Love this hotel

If you want a typical upmarket sterile hotel, go elsewhere..... I love the Speke however, hasn't changed much since I stayed here last in 1971, but therein lies it's charm.....decent rooms, good breakfast, acceptable wifi, coupled with a great location and a top notch Indian restaurant..... My Idea of heaven!

Just right for the center of Kampala

The rooms are large, with a small fridge and sometimes a table and chairs for work. The water pressure is excellent. Staff are friendly and reliable. The restaurants serve excellent food, whether pizza, Italian or Indian, and there are other good restaurants nearby.

Room Tip: If it is a weekend night you might ask for room on the opposite side of the music.

An Enjoyable Stay

My fiance and I stayed at the Speke Hotel will visiting Kampala in November. It was very comfortable, and the staff was pleasant. Restaurants were nearby and very good. Since it was my first vacation to Africa, I wanted to stay at different hotels for the experience. I found myself always returning to Speke because of the staff and the service. When I return to Kampala in 2015, I plan to stay at Speke for the entire duration of my trip.

Good hotel overall

This hotel is good value for your money in Kampala. The rooms look out to the park surrounding the Sheraton plus there is a nice veranda. The A/C worked very well. There is a useful work desk and a safe. On my last day the hot water in the bathroom failed. The internet was also down one evening. There were many inexplicable problems with the internet along with it being generally very slow.

The breakfast was good, especially an Indian potato dish I had never had before. There are many restaurants with outside seating surrounding the hotel. Food in these establishments were generally good. They are nice places to pass your time people watching. The front desk was quite helpful with my many needs albeit a little slow.

It is centrally located as the Grand Imperial and just as convenient. There are many taxi drivers hanging around for your needs as well as boda bodas at the corner. There is an ATM in the lobby

Good Business Hotel

I am a frequent traveler to Kampala and have found Speke Hotel very nice and comfortable place to stay at!!!!

The Rooms are very spacious and the food is excellent.... it is right in the center of the city and has access to all the major offices at walking distance.

Good Rooms .... Good Service .... Good Professional Staff

Room Tip: Take rooms on the ground floor!!!
