“Not quite a museum”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2012

Worth a walk through, but definitely not your typical "western" museum. To the staffs' credit, there are not many resources available to make updates and keep the exhibits current.

“Some nice artifacts, but badly organised.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2012

Whilst this museum had some nice areas, it felt like I was walking round a school. The "Olympic" area was a bit of a lowlight.

It had some nice things, but it didn't flow in any noticeable order. Everything seemed like it had been plonked down at some point in the 80s, and not cleaned since then either!

Having scored it low, it is worth seeing if you are short of something to do, but I wouldn't suggest you go out of your way for it.

“Decent museum but won't blow you away”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2012

This really deserves a rating between 'average' and 'very good' - it was just 'good' but there isn't an option for that so average it is. There are some interesting exhibits and you could just about spend an hour in there. Some of their bigger exhibitions in the transport section I found the most interesting - full size old school canoes and rowing boats, a lot of the other exhibits were small musical instruments and the likes.

For an hour or so and for the price (which I can't remember exactly but it is cheap enough not to be a factor) i'd say it's worth a visit. You can learn some interesting facts and see some interesting things but if you're hoping to be blown away you won't be, or if you compare it to some museums in Europe, it's just not in the same ball park.

“A lost opportunity...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2012

Having seen some wonderful National Museums in other parts of Africa, I had hoped that the Uganda Museum would be a fascinating insight into the history, culture and fauna and flora of Uganda. The few and frankly uninspiring dusty exhibits were poorly presented with little explanation. Even though the building is modestly sized, the space could be used so much more constructively. The whole museum needs a complete refurbishment and every display needs renewal and expansion. The Museum doesn't deserve a detour. This is such a shame. Uganda deserves much much better to inform and educate both her own people, and the visitors who come to enjoy this amazing country.

“Nothing thrilling”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2012

I visited on a school trip but found out to my disappointment that there was nothing exciting or thrilling especially when compared to other places around the world which tell stories of amazing historical events
