“The place burned down a year ago...”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2013

There is no more Kasubi tombs, it burned down. But they still try to charge you money for reader information on dirty boards ... Our guide made us skip it ... Avoid this place until they are rebuilt.

“Good history lesson”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

The tombs are currently being restored after a fire in 2010 burned down the main structure. We were told that the restorations are supposed to start March 2013 and are expected be done in 15 months.
In the meantime, it is still probably worth a visit. The entrance fee (10,000) includes a guided tour and our guide spent the first 20-30 minutes relaying to us the history of the Ugandan kings (Bugandan specifically) using maps and pictures. For someone with only a basic knowledge of Ugandan history, this was a great overview.

“You will learn a lot about Buganda”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2013

in december 2012 i visited the kasubi tombs located just outskirt of kampala. The first thing you should do is take a guard (available at the main entrance). Negotiate a price with him max usd 10 and you will never regret. There is a small entrace fee and then you will start a tour which will not take more than 45 min since the main attraction is burnt and now under construction. The way the reconstruction is going, i think it will take 3 years or more.

There are four huts that you will enter and briefed about history together with photos
main hut, drum hut, burnt hut and wives hut.

The tour is mostly listening and admiriing historical pictures and artefacts. It is easy walking for 5 minutes around the compound
