“Great personal service ... and the food ain't bad either!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2014

I was there for two days and was amazed that almost immediately, the hotel staff knew me by name. (No, I am not famous). Service was always immediately present and willing to assist or direct me whenever I looked like I needed it.
The food was terrific. The buffet had so many delicious and unique choices that it made you not want to leave. It was such a dramatic contrast to the rest of Uganda and the time I had spent in the bush that it felt like an oasis in Africa.
The pool was unique, the exercise equipment was in top condition, and the rooms were clean, well maintained and comfortable.
The grounds surrounding the hotel was one of the best amenities. It was like lounging in the midst of a large peaceful garden, a perfect place to unwind.
While the Sheraton maintained it's usual pricing, I felt it was well worth the expense and considering the restorative effect that it had on me, it was a pleasant bargain.

I'm very lucky to stay in many hotels around the world with my job but this has to be the worse ever. The rooms are so old and dirty. The curtains in my room are so old and they are full of holes which look like stars in the sky when it's daylight outside. The carpet is full of stains and the light fittings in the room are falling apart. The bathroom is old and tired and needs replacing, cracks in the sink. Toilet sprays water out when it's flushed. Had dinner in the restaurant and waited over an hr for my bill even after asking 3 people. Would I return. Never ......

Dear Guest,

We appreciate your feedback. Your points of concern are noted and we have discussed them with our responsible department heads. 75% of our floors have been renovated recently – for the other ones, we have a renovation plan in the pipeline, that consists of a full renovation of the bathrooms and part of the bedrooms, including the curtains.

We would be more than happy to show you the outcome of the renovations on your next visit to Kampala.

Best Regards,

Actually writing this while staying at the hotel.

First impressions are that this is a hotel crammed into as small a space as possible. Though the space is well utilized, the grounds are small.
Inside the hotel is not impressive. The dark wood walls and paneling give more of a dingy feel than cosiness.

Rooms are smaller than average and it's one of those places you don't think too much about the hygiene because it is clear to see that the cleaning of the rooms is subpar. Bath tub had soap film in one corner and some grime inside (travel advice; take flip flops with you no matter what!)
Grout in bathrooms had seen better days and curtains in the bedroom had stains and needed some needlework.
(Pics attached)
Overall impression was of a 2 star hotel posing as a 4 star one

I normally use the Sheraton in Kampala but this time round I had a room facing the Gardens above the restaurant. What a noise. Every night until 1am and weekends sometimes until 4am the music from the club / casino across the park rattled the sliding door in its frame. It was most unpleasant. In the hotel's defense. I did not complain to management because I was working most of the time until 1am. The real shocker came on my last night in the hotel where the music was still shaking the floor at 4am when I left for the airport. It is a shame that an outside institution can ruin things for the hotel like this. The hotel live entertainment ended at a reasonable hour, which is acceptable. The staff is very friendly and the food very good and reasonably priced. Everything in the hotel is tops. Just the noise from the club is not acceptable. My recommendation is that if you need a decent nite sleep, insist in a room on the parking area side. I you like the vibe of club music at all hours but don't feel like joining them, then ask for a room on the park side.

Room Tip: Rooms on the parking area side are quiet.

I'm still amazed to this day that this hotel is actually a Sheraton It's not the usually high standard that Sheraton puts it's name to. But the most positive aspect was the bed was most comfortable and there is good wifi in the hotel. Pool area is ok

Generally the hotel entrance looks grand then you get to the rooms. It's dated. The curtains are poor. The bathroom very basic and something like a prison cell. And just in general needs a refurbishment.

The staff are helpful and attentive. But you get hounded at night by females looking for sex in all public areas. And in front of staff to.

It's ok for a quick stay but nothing long term. Be careful what you eat to !

I disagree with other people who had negative reviews, possibly theirs was a one off. I have always enjoyed staying and dining at Kampala Sheraton Hotel, with a new chef, the food is definitely tasty and they have a variety of restaurants e.g. the Seven Seas, paradise Restaurant, and the Lions Centre, when we were there myself and my friends really had fun. They have a state of the Art gym with Aerobics and Salsa on some days. I would recommend Kampala Sheraton to any body who needs good service and friendly customer care.
