I was surprised by the Yujo Sushi bar. Set in Nakasero and directly next to the Japanese consulate/embassy, it was clear that this would be a dedicated place. In fact, they had a huge range of freshly prepared sushi and more to order. The ambience was nice and I can only recommend the place to anyone who is in Kampala for more than just a day or two.

Every time I am going to Yujo, I enjoyed my food. It is fresh, tasty. I loved it. Services is efficient. If you are a sushis lover, this is the place to go.

Yujo is effectively Kampala's only sushi joint, so if you are craving maki and someone tells you to go elsewhere (as of the writing of this post in June 2014), ignore them. Remembering that little of what your eating, especially anything fishy, is sourced locally, book a table down the hill in their little garden and be prepared to drop around 40 USD for a really lovely and filling meal. The restaurant is beautifully set and quiet, right in the heart of Kampala, around the corner from Emin Pasha and Wandegeya. Bento box lunch specials run about 12 USD.

welcomed addition to the reaturant scene. The service can be hit or miss but rarely the food.
The sushi and sashmi is always fresh and rivals many places back home.
The prices are high but it is well worth every penny.

This place made a big impact when it opened a couple of years ago. The sushi is delicious and great quality. The restaurant looks beautiful and waiters are very attentive. Yes, it is pricey, but when you consider the distance and cost involved in shipping in fresh fish, it's a great deal.
