My husband and I have eaten at The Fez Brasserie many times during the past four years--as a couple, with friends, and with business associates. It has always been extremely pleasant. The atmosphere is wonderful. If it had an ocean view, you'd swear you were in Zanzibar. However, when we had dinner there recently, the evening was a disaster. Service was sketchy, at best. My roasted lamb dish was inedible. I sent it back, and was offered a replacement meal which I declined since it had taken so long to get the first one. Maybe it was because there was one large group in the dining area and another large group on the lawn and the staff was overextended. Whatever it was, it was completely unacceptable. Perhaps we'll try it again, just because it's so darn BEAUTIFUL. Perhaps not. There's lots of competition for fine dining in Kampala these days. This restaurant had better get its act together or it's going to find itself ignored by everyone except captive Emin Pasha Hotel guests. It also has a very expensive, quite limited, wine list.
