“Nice rooms, pool nice, expensive, good breakfast”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013

Hotel is expensive but in a compound with a pool, restaurants, bakery, shops etc.

Pros
Room was huge, clean, and well maintained.
Shower was top notch.
Net was in good shape.
Hotel was secure
Plenty of food etc. nearby and walking distance to US embassy. Great French bakery in compound.
Good but expensive breakfast. It was included for guests.

Cons
Noisy of a weekend due to nearby music. Music was blaring very loud until past-midnight
I ordered and paid for two suites but one room was not a suite!
I left one day early and they would not even give a partial refund. As I spent $2600 plus food etc., I feel they could have done this to keep me happy.
Quite a way from downtown and University (Makerere)

Room Tip: Go with a high number as you are away from the music more.

This "village" in Kampala is a quiet set of bungalows with spacious resort-type rooms with everything needed for a business traveler also. Each room has its own patio area surrounded by plush gardens. The attention and service by staff members is very good. It is just what the doctor ordered for the weary business traveler.

Room Tip: Book early in high travel season.

I stayed here for just under a week, and can highly recommend the hotel. It is outside of the main city center, but provided you have transportation lined up, this is a great place to come back to at the end of your day.

The continental breakfast is very enjoyable, the rooms are comfortable and quiet. There is a small pool that is near the guest rooms, and it also makes a nice place to meet up with your traveling companions. Also on the hotel compound grounds you will find a coffee shop/patisserie, the open air restaurant which is where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, cocktails and dinner; a gift shop and wine shop where they will help you ship items home; and a mini mart to buy some last minute items for the room.

This hotel is just down the road from the US Embassy. It is on a main road, but you feel safe and secure within the property grounds. The staff pours champagne for each of the guests around sundown, and while the service may not be up to Western standards, you can certainly see they try to be attentive and accommodating just remember some things may get lost in the language difference. You're in Africa. Just go with it.

Room Tip: I believe I was in room 9. It was all the way at the end of the walkway, and it was on the 2nd floor...

For better or for worse, when you enter the gates of the Petit Village it is like you have left Kampala. The rooms are modern and stylish (although I am not a fan of having the bathroom in the bedroom, hidden only by a low wall), there is an excellent Belgian restaurant, the patisserie serves very good coffee and the service is polite and effective. My only complaint is that the wifi system had been damaged in a storm, so the hotel had put in place a temporar wifi service that was both slow and unpredictable. And yes, like other reviewers have pointed out, it is noisy at night (you can vaguely hear the music from a local disco across the road) but, honestly, what do you expect? You are in Kampala, which is a very noisy city. I'll definitely come back to this hotel next time.

I booked this hotel after reading the Trip Advisor reviews and following a disastrous stay at the Sheraton the previous week. The location on a hill opposite the city centre was a quiet oasis. The only disadvantage was that traffic into the city centre was very heavy in the rush hours.

The thatched rooms with verandas overlook a small swimming pool. The rooms are comfortable if a little quirky – the bathroom in my room was behind a 3/4 height brick wall divider. The four poster beds have mosquito nets. Each evening around 6pm, they bring round a complimentary glass of champagne, ideal for sipping as you watch the sun go down. There is also a complimentary bar in the room with beer and soft drinks, as well as satellite TV [no sports channels!]. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful.

In the small complex, there is a good restaurant serving continental food and also some local fish dishes. The breakfast is also served there, including a cooked breakfast although the website only says continental. There is also a good coffee shop/patisserie. Across the road is a large supermarket and a foreign exchange bureau.

Close to US embassy, this hotel consists on cottages. Rooms are minimalistic, no wall between bathroom and the room so be aware of that:)

There are a bakery, a restaurant and mini-market on site. Breakfast is very good- consists mainly on French products. The only thing: there is quite noisy at night as a disco is close by. Opposite the street there is a supermarket so you can easily make some shopping.

The hotel is well located in a safe and good neighborhood, close to the US embassy or consulate (don't remember).
I stayed in a Junior suite for 5 nights and my room was just near the wall separating the hotel from the village. At night it was quite noisy, I could hear all the noise of the village.
The room was very clean and comfortable, the bedding nice, good quality and well maintained.
Overall the staff is just ok. The service is not excellent, I suppose in terms of local norms it's good but for international norms it is very average.
The food is very good, the best restaurant in town from what I have heard!
One night I ordered room service for my diner. I had just a salad and had to wait 1 hour before boing served...
Breakfast is average, not specially good. The staff is not welcoming in the restaurant. Every morning I had to wave and call someone.

Room Tip: Ask for a room far from the village if you want to avoir the noise during night.
