I had written a review of my stay but I do not see it posted, so here it is again.
I stayed with a small group at Paxland and was impressed and relieved that there were flush toilets and showers. This was important for me. The grounds were very well kept, the rooms are very clean and the bed linens are changed daily. There is laundry service available. You must ask for this. Traditional African food will be served if asked. Ask. It is an experience for an American. I enjoyed it. Remember that you are in Africa and they operate on their time schedule. It takes a while for food to be served but considering the facilities, it is normal and common in EVERY restaurant in Uganda that I ate at. There are no air conditioners, or t.v's in the rooms. You are in Africa. Through no fault of management the electricity goes off every few days for a few hours and you may not always have hot water due to this. The host, Betty, is most accomodating. She will try her best to provide what you ask for if it is available. Remember, again, where you are. Betty and staff love to talk to you about their country and enjoy hearing of yours. Their English is quite good and the are most pleasant. Try the African tea. The breakfast provided is sparse but ask for eggs and you will get them. I stayed for about two weeks and would stay again. The rates are very reasonable. I have no other hotel to compare to but I would think others are similar with facilities available.
