“For West Africa, this is amazing Chinese food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2013

The food here is generally quite good. The sweet and sour pork was excellent as was the hot and sour soup. Other items tended to be good, but not quite on the level one might expect from a really good and traditional chinese place. However, given the constraints imposed by the location (West Africa) and how that complicates the task of getting the relevant ingredients, I think the owners are doing an amazing job, and it is clear that they work very hard at making their place as good as it can be.

The service is kind and attentive, but a bit disorganized. At each meal we had there at least one thing we ordered did not arrive and at least two dishes which we did not order appeared instead. So, one must be prepared to go with the flow and try something new. So long as you do not arrive with western-style expectations, I think you should have an excellent experience.

“I Felt Like I Was Back in Beijing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2013

I lived in Beijing in college, and this place takes me back there. All of the food is 100% authentic, northeast style food. If you want duck or steamed buns, you have to order them in advance, and sometimes they run out of this or that, but the food is consistently amazing. In particular, the sweet and sour pork is wonderful. (I do not like sweet and sour pork in the States, or anywhere else but here.)

The lady who runs the place speaks no English and almost no French, but the staff are all fluent French speakers. The head waiter, though Togolese, speaks amazing Chinese as well.

Everything comes out family style, making it a great choice when you have lots of people and don't want to be waiting on just a few people's dishes. They bring it out as it's done, meaning no one's food is left under a warming lamp either.
