The location was excellent, the room was well set, clean, classy.. views were magnificent. Unfortunately weather was not on my side for us to explore the surroundings. I was the most impressed with the warmth of the owner and the quality of the staff. Wont hesitate to recommend this place to anybody else. the only negative point i can say about this place was about the dinner. we had dinner one night over there. felt the food was too little and there was no choice. other than that-all excellent.

Room Tip: ask for a room at the upper deck. view will be better.

We spent 1 night only, and regretted not staying any longer! Wonderfull place. Amazing view. Excellent breakfast. Everything was great. Quiet, secure, excellent restaurant in the area. Absolutly nothing to complain about! We loved it and will be back soon.

My husband & I spent 2 weekends at this Guest House, the first time because we found it on Trip Advisor when having to do a visa weekend away. It was so beautiful, warm & friendly that we went back for a second weekend away as the first time was too short to enjoy all the walks around the area. The views are breathtaking, the bird life colorful and the gardens lovely. Definitely worth more than 1 visit!

In May of 2012 I took a trip with my best friends' family to South Africa for a month. We first went to Johannesburg, stayed there for a couple of days then head out to Swaziland for 1 week. We drove for quite a long time but finally arrived at our destination. It was in the middle of the night, pitch black so I didn't see most of the outdoor scenery then. The rooms were so beautiful and cozy with a view over a huge valley; just gorgeous. We slept like angels cause the beds must have been made of clouds :) In the morning we were served breakfast, either pancakes, bacon and eggs or fresh fruits; during the stay we tried all three and they all tasted the same: delicious :) The staff was excellent. I truly haven't got one bad thing to say about Ematjeni, it's simply an excellent place to stay.

From the moment you arrive to the disappointment of having to leave this is an experience we will never forget. The whole place makes you feel special and this starts from the delightful Carol who welcomes you and looks after you in a quiet unassuming manner that reflects the pleasure of being in such a beautiful destination. The room was perfect and the bathroom spectacular, but the friendliness of the staff and stunning views made the complete picture. The breakfast was bespoke and perfectly presented in an amazing venue. Unfortunately we only stayed one night as we travelled from St Lucia to the Kruger, we only wish it could have been longer. I agree that paying for Wifi is a little disappointing but this was a minor aspect in a truly great stay.

Room Tip: We were in Oliver's room which was exceptional, but I imagine they all are!

We spent one night at Ematjeni while traveling from Kruger to KwaZulu-Natal. The rooms are clean and spacious. The guesthouse is located in a residential area above the city, so having your own transportation is essential (there are no restaurants within walking distance either). We had a hearty breakfast while enjoying the beautiful views. Wifi is available, but costs R50 for 50MB (the minimum you could buy). We were told the water is not potable, but the guesthouse provided "filtered" water in the room. We had our own bottled water, so we did not clarify whether that meant the water had also been boiled.

In all, a very pleasant place to stay!

We have just arrived home from a spectacular stay at Ematjeni. We were completely satisfied with everything; from the wonderful staff, to the beautiful bedrooms, and very tasty breakfasts. Everything was of the highest quality, and the view was too die for; you can loose track of time getting lost in the view! I would highly recommend this guest house. Swaziland in total was also a great experience!
