Awful experience! Unprofessional staff at reception, unfriendly personnel, poor facilities
Old gym with almost no equipment, spa without any receipts, still waiting to get a cup in my room
Don’t be fooled that they are advertising it as 5 star hotel !

You would be hard pressed to find a hotel that matches the awfulness of the King Fahad Palace Hotel . The rooms are outdated with rusted lampshades and the carpets exudes dust, odor and irritants and furniture and fittings are grimy and falling apart. The beds cave in and the cupboard are smelly. No kettle , as is usual in many hotels, is available nor are hand towels.
After several complaints, I was offered another room, but upon inspection it was worse then what I had.
The Reception Desk staff are snobbish and think they are doing you a favor.
The only redeeming factor is the view from the room if you are lucky enough to get a sea view room.
The hotel could do with some serious upliftment.....

Been here a few times over the past year.

Pros:
- Nice pool
- Friendly staff
- Nice view
- Surrounded by great restaraunts at great prices
- large rooms
- good security
- good breakfast

Cons:
- WiFi is spotty. Very poor reception causing calls to drop constantly
- the rooms are horribly dated and not maintained. Lights don't always work in the room, air conditioning units do a poor job of cooling the rooms or cool it well but are very loud, my tub didn't drain very well and felt as if the actual floor was rotting below the tub as the tub was actually sagging noticeably at the bottom and I felt as if I was going to fall through if I stepped on the soft spots. There was also what seemed like mold along the tub and shower curtain and the bathroom smelled of mold and mildew.
- the vent in the bathroom did not work at all causing moisture buildup in the bathroom
- the gym was typical for a hotel gym, however it was tiny and not ventilated causing it to smell of stale sweat
- the carpets are old carpets in need of replacing as they are covered in stains and visibly fading in spots
- patio doors do not lock
- tv in room has few channels and all are unbearable to watch as they are all static

Overall I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I stayed at the Pullman on the other side of Dakar and it was much nicer and the rooms much cleaner with more reliable WiFi.

This hotel would be a 3 star by Canadian standards.

Previously the Le Meridien Hotel Dakar, now known as the King Fahd Palace Hotel. Large convention centre attached to the hotel so much of the hotel is focused on convention business. Very spacious hotel with pleasant staff.

Great experience. Arrived late and corporate travel had made problem with pre paying some of groups rooms. Night Manager very accommodating and said to check in and straighten out in morning. Super breakfast buffet in restaurant. Very good pool and bar overlooking coast.

Across the street from American Embassy and short walk to food local restaurants on waterfront.

Rooms big and clean. I stayed on top floor.

Only drawback was they would not let van drive to main door so had to walk up driveway to check in but they sent cart for luggage. Good security.

Room tip: Top floors get good ocean breeze.
