“Good steak and wine, what else do you need!”
Reviewed August 19, 2014

Always have a great steak cooked to perfection and there is always a good selection of wine. A little pricey but a nice treat if you live in Dakar! Had the hamburger for lunch one day and it was delicious!

“It is ludicrous that this restaurant is not rated Dakar's best”
Reviewed August 9, 2014

Currently rated only #18, I have a little less faith in the TripAdvisor community. This is by far the nicest place to eat in Dakar, Senegal right down to the little touches of playing traditional Argentinian music softly in the background to servers better trained than at other Dakar restaurants I've visited. The steaks, vegetarian meal, and wine were all superb. The service was excellent minus the small forgotten message I wasn't passed on about them being out of the side dish I'd ordered. However, that was the only blemish and the service it excelled in other areas--right down to being attentive to my friend who brought her own, proper Argentinian steak knife. An altogether excellent meal. We'll go back!

“Good food”
Reviewed June 18, 2014

Often had diner in La Parrilla as boss was very charmed of this restaurant. Food okay, very good service. I once was charged twice for a dinner we had over there and money was deducted at the next visit. No problem. I loved the carpaccio.

“terrible”
Reviewed May 21, 2014

I just spent 4 months in Dakar the last year and despite the city and its people continue being quite surrealistic, to have a dinner in a place like this is the worst option you can ever take. Some Indian friends took me to this place long time ago and they took me again this time. Last time, as they were very exited because of taking me there, I was quite polite and told them that it was not like in Argentina but ok; and this time I was not able to avoid coming back =P. My indian friends does not any much about beef, in fact some of them do not eat beef even, just lamb or chicken.
The place is located nearby the presidential house, in a nice neighbourghood. The place looks like an argentinenan parilla from the 90's (pretensious like most of the most expensive places Dakar), and the bottles of malbec in the windows were standing on the bottom and literarilly covered by dust (this is not a way of taking care of a wine even worst if you are in Dakar which is let say DRY). The waiters are nice people, like in every place in Dakar. The food is definetively not Argentinean. The owner is "Libanese" pretensious man that says that he is selling kobe beef, whilst the same it is prohibited to be exported out from Japan.... Noooooo, it is not wangyu even, is just the beef you can find in the Casino Supermarket or in any butchery in town. I pressume he did not even visit Buenos Aires once.
About the cooking method... in my town we say "the beef is ready when the chef is drunk", and this is more like a normal american bbq instead of argentinean asado.
If you are a beef lover and you have had the oportunity of travelling, not only to Argentina or Uruguay, but also to Europe, you will feel yourself cheated like an idiot.
An special note to the desserts (flan con dulce de leche).... they should review the receipt as the creme caramel/toffee/dulce de leche is ok, but the flam is at least bad.
If you are from Dakar, think that if you go 10 times to this place you can pay a ticket to Buenos Aires. If you are a turist, you already know that apart of certain big cities (London, NY, Sao Paulo, Barcelona, etc) you cannot get good food apart of the local one.

“Favorite Restaurant in Dakar”
Reviewed May 20, 2014

La Parrilla is my favorite restaurant in Dakar. The beef is imported from Argentina and it is awesome. My favorite steak is the “Lomo” – get it “à point” (medium) and it melts in your mouth. The cheesecake for dessert is also to die for. I’ve lived in Dakar for a year and this is, without a doubt, my favorite place. A little pricey but worth it for what you get.
