Inema is a must visit in Rwanda. A cultural hub that unites locals and visitors alike, it is an art gallery and more! At the forefront of Rwandan contemporary art, Innocent and Emmanuel have created a thriving art community that captures Rwanda's innovative spirit. 

After talking with the artists, I quickly realized that they have the creativity, passion, and vision to shape the future of Inema, Rwanda and art worldwide. To everyone who wants to learn more about contemporary art or better understand the ethos of Rwanda, I encourage you to visit Inema.

I was lucky to have the opportunity to chat with Inema's artists. I was moved by their warmth, kindness and generosity. Innocent and Emmanuel are notably modest, so it took some prompting to learn about Inema's many service-oriented programs. Both artists spend their free time giving art lessons to aspiring local artists. The proceeds of their artwork also funds traditional dance classes for Rwandan youth. Visitors can actually join-in to learn some moves, too! Though I didn't have the chance to attend, these classes are on my bucket-list for my next visit.



Inema also hosts biweekly yoga classes and Thursday happy hours. I spent almost every Monday doing sun salutations, surrounded by contemporary art! It was a truly wonderful way to practice yoga. No matter what your scene is (admiring art vs. chatting with friends in a garden vs. vibrant dance floors) you can find it at Inema's Thursday happy hours.
