Chez Jules is a modest, but welcoming home away from home, shared by both Rwandans and expats. Its highlights are a reasonable price, an English-speaking guard and a friendly neighbourhood, where within a 5 min. walk you can find fresh vegetables, bread and other basic groceries. Shoemakers will rebuild your shoes for under $3.00! All five rooms are a fair size and have good closet space. The one double room is very spacious and has a lovely view. There are 2 1/2 baths, a living room with WiFi and TV and a dining room for possible shared meals. A lovely porch/balcony at the back with great view of the hills. Another plus is the manager who is always available and open to suggestions.
The only drawback may be the distance from the main road (about a ten min. walk). However, cabs and taxi-motos will take you to your door on the dirt road. Rain may play havoc with the roads and make for a bumpy ride...
I'd recommend this hotel to those who can accept some of the idiosyncrasies of Africa.
