“Fantastic service, clean and everything worked!”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

This was our last stop in a 16 day overland camping trip from Kenya. Anyone who has done that kind of trip will appreciate the importance of 'clean and everything works'!
Have to say we were very impressed by the service at this hotel; especially the bar staff who went out of their way to accommodate our group of 17 on the balcony. Don't expect to be able to buy 'champagne' or sparkling wine to celebrate though - once I got the exchange rate right, the cheapest bottle was US$123! I think this is more a reflection on availability for the country rather than a negative for the hotel - just something to be aware of. Apart from that it felt like paradise after the Exodus tour.

Close to the Kigali airport - only 10 minutes at 3.30am.
Hotel's shops and hair salon not open on a Sunday. Shopping centre close by didn't seem used to tourists.

Wish I'd remembered the comment someone had made about the room at the back - traffic noise was pretty loud, but I was so tired from the tour and had earplugs, so we got by.

No air conditioning in the room we had. I was ok, but my brother and his wife (in another room) got no sleep because they were far too hot. Check at reception to see if you have a choice.

I stayed a number of nights in September and I loved every day spent there. I think a little on the expensive side at $80 but generally the service is amazing. The rooms are clean, spacious and feels like home. Ideal for business and the balcony is an added advantage. The food is great. Tips: 1. Ask for the menu of the day which is a great deal. 2. Take the rooms to the right of the lift towards the back. The rooms near the road can be noisy and those to the left of the lift can be quite warm as they face the sun in the late afternoon. Overall a great place that I will definitely go back to.

I have stayed at the Beausejour (“nice stay”) on business trips to Rwanda 5 or 6 times now. After trying several better-known hotels in Kigali it instantly became my hotel of choice. Conveniently located on the airport road with panoramic views over the hills of the city, the Beausejour is a boutique hotel that is modern, clean and pleasant.

Like Kigali itself, the ambience is functional and efficient rather than romantic: good for business rather than a honeymoon. White faux-marble tiles throughout make the floors easy to keep clean – so no scuzzy carpets. The coffee-shop has balconies offering the same great views as the bedrooms, ideal for small meetings.

There are some nice touches, like the free bottle of water in your room every day, and the exotic tree tomatoes that enliven an otherwise standard African hotel breakfast. The desk staff are helpful and will call a taxi, change small amounts of money or send someone to buy airtime if you ask. Wireless internet from the bedrooms used to be erratic but nowadays is usually reliable and fast – and free.

Given the high costs of accommodation in booming Kigali, the Beausejour offers excellent value for money at under $100 a night.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the street.

I agree with the other positive reviews of Hotel Beausejour in Kigali. I was in Kigali recently for work and stayed at the Beausejour. My room with a balcony was very clean and comfortable. There was a nice view of Kigali from the balcony. The location of the hotel is very convenient and within walking distance of good restaurants, ATM machines and stores. The hotel service was good, a nice breakfast spread was included with the price of the room, and I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel's dinner options. While not super luxurious, the Hotel Beausejour was more than adequate for my stay in Kigali.

Located between Kigali International airport and central Kigali. Good facilities and great service for an affordable price. This hotel has a nice view of the city and is located near good restaurants for european and African food.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with city view

The Hotel Beausejour (which really should not be confused with the very different Auberge Beausejour not far away) offers excellent value and quite stunning views of Kigali, so long as you are in a room at the back. The rooms are well furnished and kept very clean and the bathrooms are adequate enough. The restaurant is, frankly, nothing special and the breakfasts a bit mediocre, but there are plenty of other good restaurants within walking distance, as well as the parade of shops at Kisimenti. I found the staff all very willing if a little inexperienced (many are students from college), but ready to help. But the most attractive aspect of Beausejour is the very fast internet - the best I have ever experienced in an hotel in Rwanda.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back have a view
