I've stayed at the Iris on 3 different occasions, and each time has been made great by the customer service. The rooms are a little dated, but you won't find rooms in Rwanda that aren't a little dated without a hefty price tag. Location is prime as well - close to hotel, city center, etc. Breakfast was hot and fresh with a smile. I had equally great experiences when traveling as a group of 3 and a group of 44. Again, the focus and best quality here is customer service.

Room tip: Book with a group of 4 or more early enough and you will get the guesthouse at no additional charge.

Rwanda can be expensive, which is conflict with the income of the Rwandese people. I have stayed at this little guesthouse for the past 6 years with a group. And I have always been very happy (except when the French ambassador's dog lived next door and barked all night). No, it is not luxurious. It is a small guesthouse in Rwanda. The people are kind and accommodating. You will never receive, "that is against our policy". If you have a reasonable problem, they will try to solve it for you.

Room tip: There are typical sized guest rooms, 2 apartments and a house to be rented.

I was very looked after at Iris Guest House, and the setting was brilliant for exploring Kigali. It is a hotel for holidays and expeditions more than business travel, however, but I will not hesitate to stay there again as a tourist - and bring the family.

We asked for a room for 3 people and we got a whole house for us! It was unexpected, it was good, the house was spacious, we had 2 bedrooms, each with a bathroom, and a washroom downstairs. It wasn't expensive, it was the normal price. Rooms were clean, breakfast was ok.

The guesthouse is in the middle of Kigali, close to the Mille Colline and the home of Mister Kagame.
The rooms are clean, have everything needed. The staff is extraordinary, very friendly and helpful (thank you Ignance, Christoph and Martine).

I can highly recommend Iris at the perfect place to stay in Kigali.
