Landing in Windhoek, coming from Europe, you will probably land in the morning, but Olive Grove - by way of an example of the level of service you will receive from this excellent boutique hotel - will do everything possible to make your room available when by the time you arrive. It's a small thing but shows how Olive Grove will go the extra mile to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

We loved Olive Grove. It is only a short drive to the centre of Windhoek, or to the nearby Joe's Beerhouse, so it's in a good location for the city, but really once you get to this hotel you'll just want to stay inside their walls as it's a great place to stay. The bedroom was lovely, complete with a massive stone bath, a huge shower, and the requisite giant bed. The pool area is also the perfect size for spending a few hours. The room even had some champagne waiting for us (as a honeymoon gift for us).

Olive Grove also have an excellent kitchen and we had dinner there on our first night rather than head out into Windhoek. We both went for the cape-malay kabeljou and it was exceptional. For breakfast there were, and I'm estimating here, ten different options, including Canadian pancakes, and a Namibian breakfast including boerewors and a lovely pepper and tomato mix.

In short this was a perfect start to our holiday and honeymoon where the staff couldn't do enough for us and the food was always lovely.

Spent four nights sandwiched between two organised tours. We had room 9 with its day room, enormous bedroom and bathroom. It was as near perfect as one could wish. The simplistic yet tasteful decor added to the air of tranquility. I cannot recall staying at a hotel where I didn't register on arrival or sign a bill for drinks or food during the entire stay all of which helped to create this atmosphere of being in your own luxury home. The open plan kitchen was a further touch of homeliness. It was a perfect setting to chill out . The staff were highly professional and nothing was too much trouble. The dinner was good and the inexpensive house red wine was excellent. Breakfast was a relaxing affair sitting on the open terrace and we virtually had the small pool deck to ourselves during the day. An easy stroll with a choice of two routes took you into the city centre.

We stayed here for one night at the end of a three week trip to Namibia. Apart from some nice farmstays we had been camping for the whole trip so the Olive Grove was a welcome treat at the end of our visit. It is located about a 10/15 min walk from the city centre in a nice residential area, for €4 you can grab a taxi to town also.

We arrived early that day and were not leaving until late the following day for our flight. Although check out was at 10am which is quite early, we were free to use all of the amenities of the hotel until we left for the airport which was good. These include a pool, jacuzzi, great spa at reasonable prices and nice sunny terrace.

The style of the room was very modern and smart although the olive (unsurprisingly) tones are possibly not to everyones taste, the net curtain leading into the ensuite was not as private as many people would like. Aside from the two points above the Olive Grove was great.

A three course dinner that evening saved us going into town and it was really good (€17). Breakfast was a feast and is comparable to any top 5 star hotel. The kitchen is open plan and right in the middle so you can see whats going on.

Staff we young, helpful and enthusiastic.

I'd happily stay here again and it beats a characterless hotel chain any day.

I stayed here for several weeks when on business in Namibia a few years ago and found it a much more pleasant experience than my even longer stay at the Country Club resort where I was originally placed by the travel agent. The managers of the Olive Grove really did try to make me feel it was a home from home and there was always someone to have a chat with if I got tired of my own company.

Personally I liked the polished concrete and the minimalist decor but not everyone does and the open-plan bathroom could be an issue if you were sharing the room and didn't feel like sharing every intimate detail of your ablutions and eliminations!

The breakfast is great, it's only a short walk into town and it's easy enough to get to Joe's Beerhouse for a memorable evening meal.

This is a charming place and a great way to start or end a trip to Namibia. I loved the candles in the bathroom and the filter coffee in the room and the huge open kitchen. Nice touches. Only had a one night stop over. Wished I could have stayed longer.

I satyed here overnight with a friend after walking through the desert then camping on safari - it was pure bliss! The hotel was so easy to deal with through the booking process and made very effort to assist me with airport transfers and even allowing me to stay a couple of hours later than checkout time for free!

The hotel itself is stylish and chic - we loved our room off the courtyard. it was clean and very comfortable and had loads of lovely thoughtful touches. The best thing was our beds being turned down and a hot water bottle being put in them whilst we were at dinner (it gets so cold at night!). How thoughtful!

We ate at the hotel in the evening meal and for breakfast. The food was fantastic and dinner excellent value. The pool are a was a real treat and we just loved lazing in the jaccuzi!

it made a perfect end to the trip and i thoroughly reccomend it.

Me and the wife stayed here for 1 night after completing a 10 day camping explorer trip with Wild Dog & Kudu safaris (Our guide was Tongai who has just started up his own safari company - www.tongai-safaris.com, and we highly recommend him). This place was just what we wanted after over a week camping.
The room was perfect with a very comfy bed, hot water, TV, kettle (including complimentary granules for a proper coffee). We relaxed round the pool area before our flight with a magazine from their selection.
The breakfast was great with a continental for starters and then a choice of cooked for main.

Would definately reccommend this atfer a long and dusty trip even though it is a little more expensive than some of the other guest houses in Windhoek

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Olive Grove is a small upmarket accommodation establishment situated close to the city center in a quiet, peaceful area. The guesthouse takes homely atmosphere to a different level. Recently completely refurbished, each room has been decorated and painted with new colour schemes allowing a different feel, but with the same elegant and simplistic emphasis on decor. The open-plan kitchen allows guests to see how meals are prepared, while they enjoy a drink in the lounge. The menu was also reinvented and is now fully a la carte, quite unique for a guesthouse. Home-style food is rounded off with great presentation, pushing up the level of the guesthouse dining experience. Whilst each of the eleven rooms and one suite cater for every need of the most discerning traveller, the emphasis remains one of simplicity and elegance. ... more   less
