Klein Windhoek Guesthouse
Ranked #49 of 101 Windhoek B&B and Inns
Reviewed December 30, 2009

Was at Klein twice and it lacked that personal touch. No friendly service, the first room i was booked was ok but the second room was dark and the aircon had water leaking. Guesthouse needs a feminine touch to bring it to life.

Thank you very much for your Review.

We are very sorry that you have been missing the personal touch Klein Windhoek Guesthouse also provides.

We experience numerous returning geuests staying with us for days or even weeks and specifically enjoy the personal touch to the owner and the new Chef “Francesco”.

We offer different rooms from a BackPackers room starting at N$ 490 per Person incl. Breakfast and Free Highspeed WiFi Internet to a Luxury Studio Room.

A good idea to have a female assistance with the interior design etc. We will definitely look at this.

A family run, family friendly guesthouse, good for families, business travelers and the mellow visitor. Not for the party crowd. Friendly, informative, clean, pretty and secure. The staff has always gone the extra mile for me, which is why I keep coming back.

The KW Guesthouse was a random choice which I did not regret. I spent two weeks in a very friendly, even familiar atmosphere with other guests, owners, and employees. Rooms were small and functional, kept very clean. Area Klein Windhoek is quiet and safe. Transfers to the city are cheap and short. Room charge was decent. People working there were friendly, communicative, and helpful. Meals are not gourmet, but adequately priced and fully sufficient.
I preferred it to several 5 star hotels around the world were I had been on short stays during the last few years.

Returned from camping in Namibia last week. We stayed at KW guesthouse on arrival for 2 nights and one night at end of stay. What a great place - the staff are so friendly and helpful, rooms clean and comfortable, food good, wine excellent.

When we returned half way through our trip, it was like meeting old friends again. Thank you Francois.Tanya,Dana, Owen & Oliver - it was great to meet you all. Also met a few "interesting" locals in the bar at night - Francois seems to know everyone in Windhoek!! This guesthouse is so different from some of the impersonal hotels we have stayed in.

Hope to be able to visit again some time.

When we arrived at Klein Windhoek, the owner did not have our booking. We booked the sefl-catering unit for 4 people at Klein Windhoek Guest House. We had to produce papers and he phoned another establishment and realised that he booked us into another self-catering unit which he apparently owns just up the road from the Guest House.
We were shown to our place, and were told that the geyser burst the previous night and that we can unpack, but that the plumbers will be in and out of the unit. The lady that helped us sign in was very friendly and helpful and made reservations for us at Joe's Beer House (do not miss this one!!!!) and was extremely knowledgebill about Windhoek. Once the plumbers left (after about 1 hour) the geyser was fixed. The rest of the unit is extremely bland with nothing on the walls, floors or no furniture. The only furniture were 2 sofas & TV cabinet. Not much in the kitchen to use and the beds upstairs. For the cost of the unit for 4 people I would say highly overrated.
Thankful we decided to basically not spend any time in the unit and went out for dinner every night and spent most of the day in Windhoek. Will not recommend this establishment.

I stayed with my wife and two year old son at this guesthouse for a very enjoyable six weeks as we were looking for longer term accommodation in Windhoek. We stayed in a two bedroom self contained flat. (There are two self contained flats and ten hotel style rooms) The good sized flat was tastefully furnished, very clean and very comfortable with large kitchen (fully equipped - important to my wife who likes cooking), combined living/dining area, big bathroom and nice braai area outside in lovely gardens.
Most importantly for me, as I am in Windhoek for business, there is 24 hour free wireless internet access and I also made frequent use of their fax machine, copier and other office facilities.
The guesthouse is very centrally located. It is a five minute drive into town (the guesthouse driver will take you or you can rent the guesthouse car for better than car rental company rates) and is close to good shops, supermarkets and if you don't feel like eating at the excellent restaurant at the guesthouse, it is close to all the best restaurants in Windhoek. We found the rates to be very reasonable (We have seen some other guesthouses in the area which are more expensive and not nearly as nice).
The staff were very helpful and friendly and the owners Francois and Claudia were wonderful hosts throughout our entire stay. In fact on the first day when we turned up without our luggage which had been lost at Johannesburg airport, Claudia knocked on our door with clothes and toys for ourselves and our son including a bicycle and wading pool(!) to see us though until our luggage arrived. This was characteristic of them throughout our stay, they made sure every comfort and ammenity was met. Moreover, Francois' information and advice on all aspects of life in Namibia was both entertaining and invaluable to us as complete newcomers to the country.
We loved this guesthouse and highly recommend it.

What a fabulous guesthouse. We were given a warm welcome by the owners and found the staff to be friendly and professional. We stayed in a comfortable room with tranquil surroundings and really enjoyed relaxing in the lovely garden watching the amazing range of birds. It was in a great location and in easy reach of the centre of town. Klein Windhoek was recommended by a hotel manager in Solitaire who told us it was a friendly and comfortable place to stay and we were more than happy with his suggestion.
