If you're from Europe then this is just a church. However, if you are not 'churched out' from other places then this lovely little church is worth a visit. It is small but has some pretty stained glass windows. Services are still held - albeit in German, where few people speak German anymore. You will probably be urged to place a donation in the box - but a few coins will suffice. Easy to find -as it stands out on the hill above independence Str.
If you have limited time in Windhoek there are other places I'd go first.

The historic church is situated just outside the main city centre streets. It strikes as imposing from the outside and is traditionally plain Lutheran inside. However most of the information and literature is in German with only on or two leaflets in England and no other languages.

Make the effort to see inside and enjoy Windhoek's most recognisable 'postcard' image, but afterwards take the time to also visit many of the other fabulous sites that are very nearby (including the famous Tintenpalast - the Palace of Ink - and now the Namibian parliament, the Alte Feste - Old Fort, the Reiter Denkmal statue - Equestrian Memorial, and the soon to open, the stunning and fabulous looking Independence Museum). All within 150 metres of the Christuskiche!

The church is a landmark in central Windhoek. Not particularly spectacular in itself but as a piece in the jigsaw of German colonial rule it is worth visiting. Services are still conducted in German 100 years after their time in control of the country was ended.

After days in the desert, I wanted to simply pray my rosary before flying home. This beautiful church on the top of the hill overlooking Windhoek was the perfect place to center and reflect on such a wonderful trip.
