This place has everything you need when arriving in Windhoek. Friendly and serviceminded staff, a pool, good rooms and semi stable wifi.

Drinks and snacks are available at very reasonable prices.

The breakfast buffet is a little "messy", when the main table is occupied by other guests.

Room Tip: Try their homemade applepie - it's really great.

Pro: Very nice guesthouse. Feels like staying at home. The setting of the place as well as the breakfast table give a chance to get to know other guests more easily. The staff are very competent, helpful and friendly.

Con: The price is a little high comparing to other guesthouses with the same standard. The location itself is a bit inconvenient without a car (not in walking distance to the city center or any grocery store) and walking around outside the premises is not recommended.

Many thanks for your review, and for taking the time to share your thoughts! Just to comment on the grocery stores - there is Tom Thumb corner shop which is a maximum of 10 minutes walk away from Rivendell, and also Louis Botha corner shop around 15 minutes walk away. Walking to the city centre takes around 20 minutes maximum, a bit longer if you walk back as it's uphill!

Walking in the vicinity of Rivendell is fine during the day as long as the usual precautions are taken (which would be the same anywhere in the world) - we recommend that people don't carry cameras or obvious money belts etc. We don't recommend that people walk around after dark, instead our managers are happy to recommend a taxi company if guests don't have a car, or prefer not to drive.

All the best from the Rivendell team.

Safe, clean, helpful & friendly staff and owners. Good breakfast, and a modern kitchen area that can be be used by guests. Well thought out guest facilities with sunning area chairs and nice pool.
A short walk to town, and the Pick and Pay supermarket located in an upscale shopping mall.

We stayed here for our first night in Namibia. It's quiet and secluded and we had a spacious room, which opened onto the patio by the pool. The room was equipped with everything we needed, breakfast was good and the staff were warm and friendly. I liked the honesty bar. The two fridges were well stocked and items were fairly priced.( We would have liked wine available in dinkies, though. Maybe that's a thought for the future.)The guesthouse is in a quiet area, with easy access to the main shopping area by car. We would stay again.

We stayed a total of 3 nights at the Rivendell while between tours and flights. It's a lovely place to stay with a very friendly staff and the room was spotless. Breakfast was delicious as well.

The fan in our room was very noisy the first night, but when we complained it was promptly replace by a very good floor fan which did the job perfectly.

Also, we were told that we could walk to the city centre - which is true - but I didn't feel very safe doing so - a lot of empty streets and busy main roads to cross.

I would definitely stay here again!

My wife and I have stayed at Rivendell many times for work. Most of these stays have been extended stays for a few weeks. The grounds are lovely and the staff are very polite, courteous and always available to help if need be. I particularly like that there is a kitchen that guests can use to cook dinner and recently we stayed in the self-contained flat that has a kitchen and ensuite. I will be staying here again in the future.
