“Great Windhoek option”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

Villa Violet was a great way to spend our last night in Namibia before flying out the next morning. Booking online was easy, their response via email was prompt. The grounds are very nice and secure; our room was lovely and clean with no noticeable noise. Heidi was so nice and helpful.

Villa Violet deserves its Tripadvisor rating - we just found the shower / toilet very small and we are not big people! But the lovely quiet garden and friendly staff more than made up for this lack of space.

All we needed was one night to find out what a wonderful place Villa Violet is. A couple of weeks ago we stayed for an extra night in Windhoek because of the change in the flight schedule. But it really didn´t matter because we had such a nice stay. We felt like staying at a real home. Thanks Heidi and Ben!

We stayed here for 1 night when arriving at Windhoek. Owners were very helpful in getting around and finding a good restaurant. The parking was guarded at night by a very friendly local. Breakfast OK; no other meals.
Watch the photos in the reception - and do not forget to ask the story about the snake and the squirrel.

Having stayed in a number of guest houses and hotels in Windhoek I really liked Villa Violet and found it perfect for a night on route. Personally, I’m after somewhere no-frills, relatively private and without a lot of fuss. All the decent sized and comfortable rooms are located around a pretty courtyard with a small and clean pool. The B&B is on a good sized plot with nice gardens surrounding, plenty of parking space for multiple 4x4s and a lovely lounge and breakfast room with complementary coffee and honesty bar. Breakfast was simple but fine, we were the only guest staying so it was very peaceful. If you are looking for a comfortable first or last night in Windhoek with plenty of space to pack/unpack and with good access to a number of restaurants (try O Portuga - great food and atmosphere) I would recommend it and I will happily use it again on future trips.

After the brilliant reviews on Tripadvisor, my expectations were of more than we got.

Ben was a very good host and very helpful and pleasant. The room was comfortable, clean and functional and Heidi did kindly make an advance booking for us at Joe's Beerhouse for supper.

Breakfast was a total let down and given the rave reviews....I can only gather that we were there on an off day. We got a small tub of yoghurt, a few cereals, a selection of 2 types of cheese which I think was a gouda and a cheddar, a few pieces of cold meat, 1 slightly aged whole apple as the only fruit, brown or white bread to toast. There was no choice of jams or marmalade, but 1 tub of apple and cinnamon "jam", which was more like a sauce one serves with gammon. We were offered eggs and that's all we got....2 fried eggs each...all on their own... on a dinner plate.

Heidi was there the following morning, but seemed in a bad mood. I suppose I shouldn't judge on this, as I don't know the circumstances and something terrible could have happened to have upset her, but then rather don't come in.

Overall just an average, albeit comfortable place to put your head down for the night. Nothing wrong with the Villa Violet, just nowhere near the reviews given it in our opinion.
