“Kapana my broer”
Reviewed October 28, 2011

Excellent day spent driving around, had a beer at Xwama Restaurant just off independence avenue, afterwards went to markets and had FRESH (slaughtered a few hours before) medium rare AAA grade beef barbecued on an open fire with chilli spice, vetkoek (oily dough balls) and an another ice cold Qaurt of Windhoek Lager.
The place is Safe, just like any other town in the world you must not look like you want to get robbed, and taking a buddy or two helps. Don't walk around looking out of place, take an old bakkie (4x4) and be friendly to the locals,
Walele Po Tate, lekker dag my broer, kala po Nawa
Support the micro economy, wasting N$ in malls and shiny shops in town does not feed the small entrepreneurs, drink the beer, eat the food, buy skin cream made from makalani nuts, buy leather shoes made from seals, don't under pay, don't over pay.

“Katatura - worth a visit”
Reviewed August 2, 2011

Went with a guide to Katatura and think the place is well worth a visit. Sure you will se everything from very poor housing to rather nice houses but it gives you an idea about how most people in Windhoek lives. We went to several markets and not once did I feel unsafe, the people I met were very friendly indeed. It is good to have a guide that can tell you about the history and where to go in Katatura.

“Katutura Beautiful”
Reviewed October 16, 2010

Dear Friends, I have been to Katutura many times and worshipped with the people and lived there for a while and discovered how SAVE it is to live in Katutura. It is all in the mind of the one who has heard the wrong information. We have spent time in Umalunga in Grootfontein and found it SAFE. We have taken teams of westerners there to work and serve with the church and found it SAFE. We love these townships and the people in them. If you want to meet "warm and friendly Namibia" go to the townships. We regret that they are there, but the people in them are absolutely BEAUTIFUL

“Horrifying”
Reviewed March 4, 2010

It's not an attraction, but it's a real place where poor people live. Don't go there because it's unsafe, horrifying and there's absolutely no need to. Unless you want to help. The first sevaral houses are ok, they are houses and have water and light. But if you go furthere in, you'll see people living in carton boxes without water, without electricity, without anything. It's not a place for tourist to go and gather around. This palce made me cry.
