I've been to Sardinia in Independence avenue a couple of times and it is simply the closest you'll get to "european" style with a lookout on the street. On a rainy day, having a pasta for lunch is simply magic! In the evenings it is also great. The noise level may be a bit high, but at least it is from people who are enjoying their food.

The new outlet in Klein Windhoek has a stronger and more formal look and feel, the food and service is great. Noise levels are lower and totally acceptable for conversation.

I love it and will consider Sardinia as one of 3 options to go to for lunch or dinner.
.... and never be dissapointed!

I ate here four times in September 2012. The first time, we found the food acceptable but it was not exceptional. The pasta with napolitana sauce was ok for the kids. There was no "baby chair" and we asked the manager (a spectacled lady) if they could buy one since we plan to come here for the next couple of years as it is very close to our new home. She looked blank into thin air and there was no positive answer. The second time we took a foldable baby chair. When the meal was finished the waitress was not in the mood to clean the chair when we asked. We had to ask for a wet cloth and do it ourselves. The third time it was the same treatment but the food (each time we tried some thing different) was beginning to taste "frozen". The rice provided with grilled calamari was like "arroz con tres delicias" in Spain which is already frozen cooked rice with some pieces of carrot. It was the worst rice I have ever tasted. The calamari was tasted like frozen calamari. The fourth time (we were desperate and wanted to feed hungry kids on a Saturday) was the worst experience for us. It was mid day. There was a powercut. The outdoor open area which has a nice breeze to sit looked entizing since the interior was dark and hot. The manager and the waitress forced us to go inside while we wanted to sit in the outside area. Infact they had always taken us inside saying "no smoking area". But on this hot day with dark interior, we really wanted to sit outside. They were very unfriendly and said that was reserved for the smokers. This is rather ironic since normally things should be reserved for the non smokers. The inside looked gloomy, dark and hot. We had to wait 45 min in this ambiance and then the usual frozen precooked rice arrived with some prawns. The pasta was with an average tomatoe sauce. Pizza was not available because of the powercut.
I was told that this is the same treatment you get at the old Sardinia, obviously the owner is a smoker. The feeding chairs for the children...that is just unheard of! So we have decided to look elsewhere especially since it is an expensive restaurant compared to what you get out.

Namibia's favourite Italian spot, Sardinia makes the best pizza in town, with a wide selection of freshly made dishes for those who are not pizza fans. The service is good and the restaurant situated right in the city centre. Only negative part is that the tables are really close together, so not the ideal place for a private dinner.

I have rated this as 7/10 in my TR, but can't round it upwards to a 4 according to TA's rating system. Having said that, we were quite happy with the fact that we were doing a 'hit and run' and were not looking for a romantic dinner. Both pizzas had thin crusts and arrived piping hot. DW and I both enjoyed it thoroughly and commented that not many restaurants know how to make pizzas. Sardinia definately knows how to. Service here was also quite acceptable and customers kept coming and going so it was reasonably busy.

We love the Italian flavour, always fast service, fresh veggies (why is it a rarity in Windhoek). The calamari is a favorite, and the Diavola pizza addictive!
