“More than a Guesthouse”
Reviewed July 6, 2011

My wife Karen and I stayed here the evening before a 12 day safari and the evening before we left for Cape Town to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. I'll simply say this. Karen and I were completely blown away by our stay in Cape Town but we would have been completely OK with having missed our flight to Cape Town and sharing another day with Natalie and Alexander at their beautiful B&B. We were exhausted when we arrived and had planned on just going to sleep but we instead ended up staying up until 2am conversing, laughing and enjoying the lunar eclipse with both our wonderful hosts. Our next evening with them, after our safari, was little different but this time we were also guests to Alexander's culinary skills as he prepared a Springbok dish that was simply one of the best meals we had during our entire stay in Africa. My wife and I felt as though we had known Natalie and Alexander for many years rather than a couple of evenings and mornings which passed far too quickly. Our stay in this lovely B&B, along with our fast friendship with Natalie and Alexander, made this one of the most memorable experiences of a Africa stay that encompassed many, many memorable moments. In my title above,I alluded to Londiningi being more than a Guesthouse. My wife and I made friends here and we look forward to the day when we can return to this wonderful lodging and spend time with Natalie and Alexander once again. Natalie,Alexander.......thank you so very much for the joy you provided Karen and myself during our most memorable stay. There will be a next time,I assure you.

We too found Londiningi a great base to start our Namibia holiday. The guesthouse is bright and spacious, unfortunately the weather meant we couldn't really get the best use of the garden and pool, but the room was comfortable and the location pretty close to the city. What really makes this guesthouse is the knowledge and help from the hosts, Alex and Nat, who are proud to share their stories of Namibia and local knowledge. We avoided driving down road that were closed or flooded out, none of which we would have known about had it not been for our hosts. We ate out and missed the traditional Namibian food prepared in the evenings, but it sounded delightful. Breakfasts are plentiful and healthy. Finally if you do stay at Londiningi, do think about how you can help contribute to their work with a local primary school - things like books and toys and pencils, which will make a big difference to the children that Londiningi help.

Londiningi is an ideal place to stay in Windhoek, whether you stay a few days to get to know the city, or are looking for a base for other travels. Nathalie and Alex, whose home and guest house it is, are wonderful hosts. They know the world, appreciate interesting guests, spoil you with excellent food, travel tips, and anecdotes, and can tell you everything you need to know about Namibia. Extremely friendly, helpful, and well-informed hosts make a big difference when you are new to a place, as we were to spectacular Namibia.

Room Tip: We were in Room 5 and it was ideal.

After an arduous journey from the UK was thrilled to find this lovely little Oasis in Windhoek. Plenty of room to park within the compund, the rooms are spacious and comfortable but what sets this place apart from the rest are the fantastically warm welcome and hospitality of the hosts Nat and Alex, their local knowledge proved invaluable for the rest of our trip around Namibia and the food is superb. They also support a local school project, check the website to see how you can help. If travelling from Windhoek airport I would recommend you take a good street map as they are located in a small street in the Eros area, which isn't that easy to find

We arrived in Windhoek with little preparation, just off from work and a little lost. And we landed in Londiningi.

Yes the place is very comfortable, quiet yet so close to the center. And yes the breakfasts are oh so nice, with a beautiful view on the pool.

But above all, you could not want for more kindness, availability and warmth than what we got from Nathalie and Alexander.

Thank you so much for your welcome and your guidance, taking the time to go through our itinerary and advising us on the best scenic routes, the places to see and the things to do ... you made us feel safe and comfortable.

My only regret is that we have not been able to try your "table d'hôte" ...we will have to come back !

We stayed here 2 nights upon our arrival in Windhoek. We knew it'd be a horribly long flight from London, and it was indeed, 24 hours door to door! So the first night was about recovering and the second to get ready for camping the following night. It worked out perfectly.
The room was lovely and very spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic and very generous, made up of fruit and cereals, cheese and cold meats, freshly made hot pancakes, and eggs and bacon, and an excellent espresso!
One night we also had dinner, and it not only was lovely food but also excellent value and £15 per person for a 3-course meal, including oysters as a starter!
Highly recommended place!

Londiningi is probably Windhoek’s best kept secret, even though it already enjoys a good reputation among the francophone community, since it is managed by a lovely young French-Namibian couple, Nathalie and Alexander, assisted by a cast of cheerful and efficient Namibian ladies. There are many guesthouses in Windhoek, but this one is special. The compound is not too big, arranged around a small pool and garden, with a nice dining/breakfast area. The vegetation is lush, and the whole thing has a laid-back Mediterranean feel, away from the somewhat stiff Germanic atmosphere and architecture that prevails in most of Windhoek guesthouses. This is largely due to one of Londiningi’s main assets: Nathalie is a super cook (she also does some catering around Windhoek), and her and her husband know how to make guests feel at ease around a good meal and a few glasses of South African wine. Dinners are cooked on request, but most people do take advantage of this culinary offer, thanks to the very reasonable price and the quality and inventiveness of the food. Breakfasts are fresh and varied. Of course, I owe it to objectivity to underline a few minus points: Londiningi is located in a nice, safe, residential area, but without your own car (there is ample parking within the compound), you are depending on taxis, that have to be called, etc. – a bit of a nuisance; the rooms are nicely arranged, but most of them are neither very large nor very lit – it didn’t matter when I visited in summer, since you spend the time outdoors in the cool garden and rooms have kind of terraces, but in the winter, it might be less fun. Evidently, these two points are meant to somehow stop the rush to Londiningi, so that I can have a room available next time I go, because, believe me, it’s very good value, a real “hôtel de charme”, as the French say.
