We stayed one night in this guest house, we got a nice, clean and comfortable room with ensuite bathroom. Allthough this is only a small place, the breakfast was one of the best we ever had! Not just the standard breakfast ingredients you usually get, but some fresh made or baked homemade pastries and jams! Breakfast-to-go can be arranged for.
There is a minibar available for everyone, just write down what you've used.
Only drawback for the guesthouse: the owner and only 1 member of the staff spoke english, the rest of them just portuguese.
They can book you a "shuttle" to get to Maxixe, Inhambane and Tofo, but be aware of the fact that this means a taxi will bring you and guests from another place (Fatima's Nest) to the local bus stand, where you board, indeed, the local bus. Uncomfortable, but fantastic experience! 11 hours in a 20-seater bus with 30 passengers :-)

I recently stayed at Palmeiras and it's a cute place, clean enough and secure. Security staff was nice, cute garden out the back, but the rooms are run down and in need of an uplift (carpets, towels, sheets, etc). Please be aware that they quote you in USD, and if you don't have USD upon arrival, they will charge you an additional 20% to pay in metical or rand. I got really annoyed with this and the receptionist decided to ignore me, until I called the owner and she agreed to give me the proper rate. In the guest book, I saw another customer had also complained about this. So either travel with USD or agree a rate in metical prior to arrival. It's also the type of place you need your own car for as it's not that near any restaurants or attractions tourists would want to see.

This is a small hotel, with only six rooms, and we were lucky enough to get a cancellation which allowed us to stay two nights. The rooms are fairly simple, but there's been some thought given to how they look, and they're welcoming, clean and comfortable. The kettle and coffee/ tea was also appreciated. Plenty of hot water and a range of products in the bathroom too. The small courtyard is restful. Breakfast was plentiful, and included a range of European and local items. It's served in a bright, attractive breakfast room although it's also possible to eat in the courtyard. The guesthouse is on a quiet street, 5 - 10 minutes walk from cafes and bars. Having since stayed at a number of other places in Mozambique, this place is pretty good value and we intend to stay there again when next in Maputo. Welcoming and secure, with a good sense of service.

Celia Rocha was a kind and wonderful host. She was most helpful with advice on Maputo and helped us with various arrangements. When we encountered a corrupt policeman and "took shelter" at a downtown embassy, she drove to our location to help us.

The breakfast was also wonderful and the guesthouse delightfully decorated and maintained. This is definitely the place to stay in Maputo!

We stayed at Palmeiras in Maputo for one night before travelling to Tofo the following day. When we arrived at Maputo airport we were picked up and driven to Palmeiras where we got a beautiful room with very comfortable beds. Palmerias is run by a very helpful family which helped us arrange transport to Tofo; the bus arrived right outside the door and we got a packed breakfast to take with us on the journey.

Palmerias made our one night in Maputo very easy and comfortable. Thank you!

Residencial Palmeiras is great. I travel to Maputo regularly for business and usually stay at one of the hotels that my client has a "special" arrangement with. This time I decided to rather pick my own accommodation and it was the best decision I could possibly have made. Cost me half the price, the room was better, breakfast was better, the staff were friendlier, the location about the same.

The house is immaculately clean (inside and out) and quite pretty. The room is spacious, bed is comfortable, they serve a continental breakfast, but it goes well beyond an average continental breakfast. Bathroom is large enough with a bigger than average shower and everything works and is clean. Wireless internet in the room was easy to set up, fast and reliable (first 450 MB is free, that's per week if you're staying long).

Despite the language barrier all the staff did very well to understand and cater for our every request. The manager Celia was travelling elsewhere during my stay, but arrived back just as we were departing and took the trouble of coming to introduce herself and checking that everything was ok, which added a nice touch.

Two minor things I picked up that might be improved are (1) that the towels in the bathroom appeared to be quite old and in need to replacement and (2) sometimes the reception area would be abandoned and we had trouble locating a staff member to help us with something, so a decent bell in the reception might be a good idea too.
