“Great business place with a chance for relax”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

I have stayed for 4 nights doing business in the city center. I liked this place very much.

Rooms were clean and spacey. Bed was comfortable. Internet was a bit slow but this is the case of Mauritius I think rather than this particular hotel. Breakfast was awesome! Except for the regular stuff that you eat you can order something special (at no cost) and the food is very good. Try Eggs Benedict.

There is a water taxi available that will take you at no cost to the other cost (ride takes 1 minute). This is totally not a problem if you are reconsidering hotel that is closer to the city center. Walking in during the day in a shirt may be a bit problematic if you are not used to such temperatures. Plan your walk in the morning or take a regular taxi – it is not expensive.

During my stay there was ‘airlines party’ and water taxi was reconstructed to look like an aircraft, there were masks available :). When ‘landing’ to the marina there was a person navigating water taxi to the standing position using lightened sticks. Whole lobby was reconstructed to be like a check-in on the airport. I like such ideas, I think that this brings more charm to the hotel.

stayed for 6 nights. right beside the harbour front. easy access to the city and away from the city noise. centralised for tourist visits to the whole island. fantastic service. although there is only one restaurant, the waiters in the restaurant and bar were very friendly and helpful. free wi-fi in the restaurant, bar and reading room. it is designed for the business traveller. honey mooners should go further up north of the island. i will stay there again in my next trip. my room faced the harbour and had a very plesant view. ananda

Room Tip: rooms downstairs are non-smoking

This is a good hotel for short stays but the food options are limited. The rooms are a bit smaller than expected. Advantage is its location / proximity to port louis. Friday and Saturday evenings are busy, tought to get food and beverages on those 2 days. The music is good but could get noisy for rooms towards the port louis side, try to avoid them if you plan not to party on those days.

Staff is helpful but sometimes slow, the service quality varies. There is no beach access to the hotel but has sun decks.

One of the things I dislike intentely, is poor service.
Although Le Sufferen is a lovely clean and comfortable hotel, the service standards get under my skin.
To date, every meal or drink that I have ordered comes either incomplete - in the case of a coffee - so sugar, milk or a teaspoon, or dinner - no cutlary, maybe breakfast - no bowls at the buffet. Unfortunately, this does not appear to be my bad luck, but more of a trend.
The wifi access is absolutely useless. You are charges a premium to stay here. and you need to pay daily for Internet - and it really sucks! If you travelling on business and need connectivity, I would suggest that for this reason alone, this is not the hotel to stay at!
The speed is so slow, it is near impossible to syncronize your mail. Getting the Wifi working in my room has so far taken 2 days (and it is still not working - as i write this from a free wifi point based on the property)
These small foxes really do spoil an otherwise lovely property.

Room Tip: All rooms look onto the harbour - no swiming beach here!

Hotel is clean and pleasant, wifi is overpriced and very slow, almost unusable. Staff didn't seem to care. We booked an excursion as part of a group and were not told that it wasn't available until everyone came to reception expecting to leave.
Food was ok, but very slow - outside bar took 20 minutes for a diet coke to arrive and over 30 for main course during a quiet period in middle of the day.
There is a free water taxi to the sister hotel across the marina but otherwise there isn't much to do here.
Room was near reception area on the ground floor and was quite noisy because of this.

The service level is very good. The property is well located, very good for business or pleasure. Of course we could do with free wifi in the rooms in addition to the free wife in lounge and waiting area. The breakfast is good, with a good selection of dishes. The staff members are helpful, professional and keen to serve. We were served by Neelesh this morning as we are commenting. We will definitely consider c
