“Very Enjoyable”
Reviewed May 8, 2013 via mobile

We stumbled across this restaurant by chance and were so pleased that we did. Although not amazing from the outside the service was excellent and the food local, fresh and delicious. I'd go back especially for the calamari - so light and tasty. We had the chicken curry creole style which was substantial and full of flavour. The bill was about £30 for 4 cokes, 1 starter and 2 mains. Would definitely return.

“Good food, service and spot”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

We stumbled upon this restaurant when we got lost looking for a different one and were happy we visited! The food, cocktails and service were great and they had some fun live music playing some oldies songs we sang along to. Try the smoked marlin pasta. It was good.

“Great Grand Baie Restaurant”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

We feel a bit sorry about the previous reviewer who seem to have had some bad experiences with this restaurant. It's so totally different from ours. My husband and I visited the Queen DoDo on two occasions during our recent vacation in Mauritius, first an early afternoon dinner just the two of us, then the last night dinner with friends. We have chosen the beefs, the creole dishes, grill platters and lobster. We experienced all dishes good of taste and freshly prepared. Prices were adequate, lobster is always expensive, wherever in the world. Though, from our point of view, still cheap.

As comparison, there is a new shopping mall in the outskirts of Grand Baie, mostly frequented by locals. We dined here on two occasions as well, and the prices are the same as Queen DoDo.

Our main waiter (the same on both our dinners) was friendly, attentive and full of humorous comments. On our last night, there was live music playing, nicely in the back ground, so no problems in having a normal conversation at the table. Also some personalized singing at each table, as for us who were leaving the next day: "I,m leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again..." And that's right - we don't know when, only that we will be back.

If any suggestion for improvement for Queen DoDo, may we suggest some cushions for the chairs, they are not very comfortable.

Recommended - yes, very much so. It's one of the few restaurants in central Grand Baie where you can dine sea side, away from the heavy traffic noises.
