“Good stay”
Reviewed November 22, 2013

I stayed three nights at this hotel. I was happy for the first night because it had a deep bathtub but it was small. Still, after a long road trip, it was nice to soak for an hour. The amenities were very nice. I don't usually use the shampoo and conditioner but this brand made my hair feel nice. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The buffet breakfast was nice but you have to get there early because the othe patrons will eat up the best stuff. They didn't replenish the items that were popular. There was a good selection of juices and fruit. The cook made a nice omelette. The dinner buffet was also nice with choices of beef, chicken and seafood with potatoes and rice sides. Mali is known for its quality of beef. The buffet was pricey but worth it if you can eat that much. Room service was also good. My telephone did not work the first night and I reported it to the reception desk. They took my room service order and reported my phone the next day to be fixed. There is a complimentary large bottle of water and an electric kettle for making tea or coffee. I thought about using the spa but after reading the other reviews, I am glad I did not. Overall, it was a good stay.

The hotel was about what I'd expect for the location and rating.
The room was better than expected, very clean and a nice shower.
Service was average for the location. It would have been better if management had communicated the lack of water one day rather than me having to call them.
Food was OK.
Given the political situation in Mali, I would have preferred much better security. Access via road is somewhat controlled but there was limited control at the front door. A metal detector / bag X-ray machine would be good!

Nice hotel, spacious room but pool a bit small.
Employees very helpful but do avoid the manager of the SPA, Mrs. Fouada [--]. She was very rude and unfriendly.
Beside our interaction with the spa manager, our experience overall was a good one.

The Blu at Bamako was a jewel in the heart of the city. The pool was quite large and well maintained, and they have a rather nice gym. The rooms are modern and spacious with a modern bathroom with both a hand held and rain shower heads. The room had an independent thermostat, but mine didn't work. It was either full blast or fan only. The A/C was quite cold, so the blanket was needed at night. The bed was very comfortable, and a note on the window was enough for the cleaning staff to keep it closed to prevent Mosquitos from entering. A complimentary can of insecticide was provided just in case. I never needed my mosquito net. Free wifi throughout the hotel was also reliable and fast. Armed security and vehicle checkpoints at the front entrance kept the hotel feeling safe. The staff spoke French, but English wasn't a problem. I never ate breakfast but I was told by a traveling partner that it was a bit expensive (US $25) for the quality and variety, but adequate. There are a variety of restaurants within walking distance that came recommended by other travelers.

This hotel is one of the most sought after hotel in Bamako for Westerns. There are a lot good, some bad but most of it is just Bamako. It is not like the hotels in the US, but you will find the hotel safe, clean and the workers will do their best to resolve any problems. I stay here for over two months on business and started out in a business class room. But was move to a regular room after two weeks. The regular rooms in the new section do not have wifi. After complaining (my tablet cannot plug-in), they moved me back to business class unit three days later. The rooms in the old section or business class section are better. They are well decorated and clean. I never had any problems with room being clean. Wifi is slow. If you are going to be there for extend period of time, buy your own network service otherwise it can be used for checking email, but any surfing will be painful.
Room service was ok, although sometimes slow… but the trick is to go to dining room order your food and have it sent for delivery. It is faster than eating in the dining room. The dining room service could be slow if there are a lot of people. I found the food safe. I almost never got sick when eating in the hotel. The staff does struggle if you are speaking English but if the waiter does not understand ask for floor manager to come over to assist. The bar on the first floor or floor zero was best. My drinks and service always came with a smile and hello.
The gym is by far the best. I talked to other co-workers staying in Bamako at other hotels and they had no gym. The gym was challenged with flooding but the hotel moved equipment to second workout room to ensure guest could get a good workout in.
Make sure you know of any hide fees or service the hotel like to charge. If you are going to be there for some time and don’t want to pay for mim-bar service than have them remove all the items. Beware of guest fees and hotel statements for eating outside food.
Mostly good, some bad but would stay here again. Always ask for Alma at the front desk. She is the best and her English is perfect. Miriam (tall one) in dining room, she is always smiling and Rey at the pool bar his is very helpful. The security guys always greeted me by name. Overall I found all the staff very supportive and like family. But of course I was there more than two months.

Room Tip: Bring your own wifi if you will be there for extend period of time. The business class section is th...

This hotel has everything Radisson to it but the location as it s still a little hard to locat it a little far from the City Center and the more coveted river bank areas.
The rooms, not very large, are well furnished and decorated.
The main restaurant on the first floor offers a variety of international and local dishes.
Friendly personal provides on time assistance 24/24 everyday.
Excellent massage, spa/sauna facilities and services on site complement this very good property suitable business, leisure and family vacation.

Room Tip: The roomier Business suites, if you can get one, are good value for money and well situated near lif...

I have not stayed at the Radisson Blu, but I have eaten here several times, used the beautiful pool and the reasonably competent Spa. The food is very good indeed, if sometimes overpriced by Bamako standards. The portions are extremely generous though, in particular the barbeque by the pool (the capitaine comes in two huge skewers, enough for a couple, and the waiter, if you do not beware, complements it with a portion of vegetables and rice sufficient for a whole family!). My favourite is the bar, cozy and elegant atmosphere with relatively light bites, and decent wine by the glass. Service is kind and attentive. Internet access though is capricious and, if you are not staying at the hotel, the wireless connection is ridiculously expensive. All in all though, a nice oasis in Bamako.
