There are two places we love to stay at in Lilongwe, and Latitude 13 is one of them. Great rooms, centrally located, wonderful staff, a great atmosphere and a superb restaurant! What more could you want. Highly recommended - my wife loves it!

The hotel is unbelievable. Hospitality and food is world class.

Meets all requirements of a world class boutique hotel.

Thank you for an incredible evening.

Well done

After staying at a guest house and on a second occasion a very large whitewashed hotel in Lilongwe, my colleagues and I stayed at Latitude 13 on our way back from a long and taxing week in rural rural Malawi. We were delighted to have a long, hot shower in the glorious bath (and later I took a bath in the amazing bathtub). The hotel is minimalist, monochrome (sealed concrete) which may lack character for some, but it is undoubtedly chic and hip for those looking for a sleek, intimate boutique hotel in the midst of a wandering, sleepy city. Most of the rooms are loft style and are large, spacious and have a beautiful open plan. The restaurant is also very upscale and has an impeccable wine list.

Very stylish hotel set in a lovely garden with one of Lilongwe's best restaurants. Very chic rooms, with lovely large full bathroom. The restaurant has a great menu and an awesome wine selection! Much nicer than staying in a city business hotel. Has wi-fi all around the property.

The hotel meets a need for a good quality place to stay in Lilongwe. Is it worth USD 220 per day, not by my estimation given the level of amenities at the moment. There is no telephone in the room, neither is the water supply reliable. The water in the shower stopped just at the moment I was using it and given that there is no telephone in the room - I had to take my sud covered self down to the reception to ask them to resolve the problem. Having said this - the food provided at the restaurant is fabulous by any standards and therefore has become a hot spot in Lilongwe and that leads to the other problem of not being able to sleep because of the noise coming from the restaurant. The hotel needs to make some minor changes and it can go from average to very good value for money.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms in the main building and preferably not the middle room.

We absolutely loved our stay at Latitude. We stayed there for 2 nights after spending 3 weeks in a very dusty Landrover, so it was heaven for us.
It is very different from any other lodge or hotel we stayed at in Malawi or Zambia - more like a hotel you would find in NYC. The decor is very modern and there are lots of interesting pieces - what's brilliant is that many of the items have been made by Katundu Textiles on Likoma Island near Kaya Mawa (their sister hotel), which provides employment for local people. The feeling of quality is unmistakable - every little detail has been thought through to make sure your stay is as comfortable and memorable as possible.
We also stayed ay Kaya and visited the Katundu workshop - they were making black mosquito nets for Latitude - so when you go you may see them!
We stayed in one of the rooms in the main building - it was amazing with a TV which swivelled round enabling you to watch it from the seating area or your bed! There were lovely bathrobes and plenty of goodies to indulge while you were there. We even had a double shower!
Malawi is known for it's unpredictable power, but Latitude has a generator which means there is always power available.
The Head Chef Andrew and Hotel Manager Lisa were always around to help with ideas of where to go locally or to just have a general chat about our travels. The team are excellent - all immaculate in their black and white outfits with a continuous smile to make you feel very welcome. They also provide a same day free laundry service, which was great as our clothes were pretty grubby after our travels.
We dined in the hotel both evenings and the food was fabulous - we can definitely recommend the lamb burger which was delicious.
The location is fine - although a bit out of town it was only 10 mins in a taxi which cost us around £5 - so pretty handy. It also has a really cool swimming pool...perfect after wandering around in the heat.

Room Tip: They are all amazing...although the main building rooms appear to be a bit bigger.

While attending the City of Stars Festival, I enjoyed every bit of my stay at Latitude 13 degrees.

I loved the rooms, the food, especially the fish over lunch, and the hospitality in general. Special thanks to Alicia and Selina for the kindness and hospitality.

I would come back again and again.
