First trip to Malawi for a week, and stayed two nights at this comfortable guest house. Being a regular business traveler this locale brought to it a refreshing combination of friendliness from the owners Tom and Mel, and a truly relaxed environment with beautiful gardens, and swimming pool.

Although I only ate breakfast there the service by the waiter Felix was superb, and the breakfast included a great selection of juices, breads, fruits and hot egg dishes/meat cooked to my taste.

Was able to sit comfortably reading with no disruption outside, and the room was very nice, and bed comforable.

Would reccomend this highly for anyone looking for a quiet restful experience while working or on vacation in Lilongwe.

Its comfortable and friendly and clean. No menu for evening meals, you just get fed, though you can state preferences. Cold beer & satellite telly and internet. Minor niggles only. All I expect from a guest house, and a lot cheaper and friendlier than the international hotels in town. Secure too. Quiet so a good nights sleep and a wonderful garden.
Short taxi ride to the government offices on Capital Hill and the location means that you don't get caught in the morning and afternoon traffic jams getting to and from Capital Hill. Excellent if you have to spend time in the Government Offices.
Served my purpose well and should I go back I would stay there again.

This is a great place, and one of the best in Lilongwe. Mel and Tom are the perfect hosts - very friendly and laid back, but never in your face. The place is a small-ish guest house - about 7 rooms, set around a swimming pool in a gorgeous garden. The rooms are light, airy and spacious, with good work space, tea and (real) coffee making facilities, and a small fridge. There's even a small gym. Cold beer, food, tea and coffee always available on the terrace (or hand-delivered to your room), and Tom cooks up a storm to deliver some very nice evening meals and a stonking breakfast - all served by the delightful Felix. The guest house is in Area 12, close to government offices and international agencies, but set back in a quiet road. Wendel's has the best internet in town - wifi access in all the rooms (included in the price), and at a very good speed (for Malawi). The room rate's US$ 120 a night, which is pretty standard for Lilongwe, but I would say good value for this place. Would thoroughly recommend it - and will definitely be going back on my next trip. The only down-side is that Wendels is very popular, and so it's not always easy to get a booking.
