I like staying here as you feel you are in Africa, especially with the courtyard where you can have breakfast and lunch. For some reason it now closes at 5 pm. Free wi fi, good air con and nets with plenty of hot water.

My only disappointment again is that in the upstairs bar they try to sell bottled water without seals. I do think that the management should clamp down on this aspect.

I love Kiboko! I am currently living in Lilongwe and I come to Kiboko every week to work on my computer in their lovely restaurant. I recently had guest so we stayed together at Kiboko Town Hotel, and it was a great experience. The electricity disappeared for a couple of hours, but that is something you have to get used to when traveling in Malawi. Good service, good food and nice rooms. Lovely staff and always very friendly and helpful.

Kiboko Town Hotel is a great place to stay! Not only for backpacking, also for business travellers there is an excellent Executive room! Well managed, fine staff at reception, bar, restaurant! Recommended. I will be at Kiboko again when in Lilongwe!

Travelled in March 2008. Found this hotel to be a great base to explore from. The staff were very helpful before & during the stay here. Would recommend this hotel & their other company Kiboko Safaris. Great stay in Malawi thanks to them :)

I stayed in Kiboko Town Hotel twice for 1 night. First time was a last minute reservation. They only had 1 room left, which is different from all the other rooms and in the basement. Much cheaper than the other rooms, less luxurous as well. Second time in a 'normal' hotel room.
The rooms are quite expensive if you're staying alone (only 10 dollars cheaper than when you stay with two persons), but in my opinion it is worth the money (you get the same rooms as two persons get). The hotel is very clean, luxe, good beds, table and chairs on your room and a four poster mosquito net.
The staff is very kind and helpfull. Breakfast is good, as well as the dinner (only available untill 5 pm; cook is Dutch- may 2013). Location is great, near the market, a couple of banks, shopping mall, post office etc.
Because I had to leave very early, I could check out the evening before and leave the key with the guard. I got some sandwiches the evening before, because I couldn't get breakfast that early.
The music in the bar is in the evening loud, my room was next to it, so was a bit hard to fall asleep. I already booked my next stay and asked for a room at the other side of the hallway than the bar, which they've arranged.

Room Tip: If you don't like loud music ask a room not that close to the bar (which is on the second floor...

Being a person working internationally for years I rate Kiboko as the best. Reason - a boutique hotel, unique, excellent management and a hotel that provides stress free, hassle free accommodation and restaurant in a perfect location for banks, shops, bars and restaurants at a value for money rate. The staff are attentive, always give you a smile, ask how are things - and they mean it. I stay here long term whilst working in Malawi. Kiboko is perfect for short and long term stays. I look forward after work to a chat with staff, guests and visitors - have a meal and drink in the bar in an environment of tastfull artifacts, plants and decor with security and peace of mind and wake up to an included breakfast of a bowl of fruit, eggs to order, toast, jam, tea or coffe - sets you up for the day eaten on a beautiful patio.
I cannot recommend Kiboko highly enough. Thanks.

Room Tip: Peace and quiet in all rooms, spotlessly clean, A/C, free internet. Choice of single or double beds...

After a horrible night at mufasa lodge, we discovered this nice small b&b right in the centre. Their rooms are quite spacious, very clean, with 4-poster beds with good moskito nets. They also have a functioning air-con, which can be quite life saving this time of the year.
Their breakfasts are rich and excellent, they even make cappuccinos. They also have very good food over lunch and their bar on the first floor ia very cosy.
It might seem a bit pricy but definitely worth the money.
