“Great value for money and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2013

I stayed here on two separate occasions at the start and end of my visit and would recommend the Kiboko Town Hotel to anyone who wants great value for money, friendly service, a clean room and excellent breakfast. When urgent transport was needed to Mzuzu, Veronica on Reception went out of her way to assist. Remember to leave your unwanted sunglasses, sunscreen and t-shirts at reception as they will be donated to a local fund which assists people suffering from Albinism.

The Kiboko Town Hotel is a great affordable choice for Old Town Lilongwe. The staff is great. Very helpful and accommodating. The rooms are super clean and have air conditioning. The rooms all have a small safe to keep your valuables and bed nets. There is a good cafe at the ground level that serves your breakfast (included with room), lunch, and early dinner meals. Comfortable tables are arranged around a service bar where many people gather to meet, chat, have snacks and drinks from morning to early evening. There is Internet service here as well as in the rooms. Upstairs is a very small and cozy bar that is open when later in the afternoon and evening when the cafe is closed. A very comfortable lounge area is behind the bar. This is a comfortable, quiet place to enjoy the evening with a drink and friends.

If you like the old city centre and want to be close to the old heart of Lilongwe to experience Africa. Post Offcie round the corner. Nice Italian restaurant downstairs. Craftmarket in front. Shopping mall 5 minutes walk.
Nice place, clean and friendly staff. What more can you wish for?

Room Tip: quite place no matter which room

This is a decent good-value hotel, that is handy for the Shoprite/Game shopping mall. My delux room was clean and comfortable with good air-con. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. There is a good cafe for breakfast and lunches but it closes at 4pm. However, for evening meals, Don Brionis restaurant could not be any closer and offers good food at OK prices. I can also recommend the Kiboko's tame taxi driver, Willy.
Negatives - rooms 1 & 2 front onto the balcony and the street and can be a little noisy and my shower did not work (plenty of hot water for the bath though).

We are so glad we found the recommendation for Kiboto on Trip Advisor. After a four year hiatus, we were back and prone to stay at our usual hotel in Old Town. For value and convenience, it is perfect. It is spotless and the recently added aircon was a welcome relief in Lilongwe heat. We, especially, enjoyed the courtyard breakfast each morning, and we love the afternoon drink in their open bar upstairs. Look no more. For value, this is it.

Happy Travelers!

Right in the center of Old Town, this hotel meets basic needs, clean rooms, nice restaurant, secure, priced moderately, well located. Deluxe rooms are very nice, roomy and well furnished. Wifi reliable. Helpful staff. Standard rooms quite small. Airconditioning worked in one room, not in another.

Room Tip: Get a deluxe room otherwise room will be very small. Prices are reasonable. Check regarding working...

Kiboko Town Hotel was the perfect haven for a weary traveler. The service was helpful, the place was very clean and there was a little restaurant in the garden. Unfortunately the restaurant only served breakfast and lunch but no dinner. The food was tasty and provided great value for money. The room was clean with several towels, warm water with pressure and air conditioning, nets without holes etc. All that little luxury that a budget-conscious traveler can dream of.

The location is central with only a short walk to the supermarkets and curio markets. There is also a little Italian restaurant (Don Brionis) in the same building that is reviewed separately.

If there are vacant rooms here, don't hesitate to stay here. Book in advance.
