Visiting Don Brioni 10 yrs ago for the first time I was curious what had become of him and his restaurant. No disappointment at all! Good food as before, friendly & quick service. Choose the day menus, they´re the best!

We had a spaghetti bolognese and a greek salad.
The sauce of the spaghetti was cold, the greek salad was literally soaked in vinegar !
When we asked the waiter for an explanation, apparently both chefs added vinegar to the salad...
Although this is inacceptable in a restaurant, we didn`t get any discount or free drink or ... We weren`t happy at all and regretted the decision to go there.
The owner`s wife even told the waiter `if you give them something free I`ll take it off your salary` which I thought was rude and disrespectful towards both us and the waiter !

Our group of 8 ate dinner here on our last night in Lilongwe after two weeks in Malawi for a volunteer vacation with Habitat for Humanity and some R&R travel. We stayed at the Kiboko Town Hotel which is in the same building and because we didn't want to go far, and Don Brioni's was recommended (with the caveat that it was pricey - which was true) we chose it for dinner.

The service was dreadfully slow (even by African standards) about 2 hours to get our meals. But, while we were waiting and having drinks, Brian the owner (the "Don" if you will) came to the table to chat with us. He's quite charming and humorous. When we did finally get our food it was hot and we were hungry, so we ate happily. And we enjoyed being together. The restaurant is comfortable and inviting.

Nice cozy feeling, open till late, but beer was warm and food average (but maybe we didn't choose the right things). Very friendly owner and very good location.

Visited Don Brioni's Bistro while on business in Lilongwe. While the food and service is quite average, the atmosphere and the owner, Brian, makes up for the rest. Well worth the visit. Especially sitting at the bar and listening to the owners stories.
