Don Brioni's was recommended to us by an ex-pat and that's perhaps key to the experience. Regulars seem to sing the praises of the place and the host but we were really disappointed. As one vegetarian & one carnivore, we both felt the menu was limited and very dated. Stir-fried veg is an unimaginative offering as the sole veg main: I opted for two starters instead - both were ok but not as tasty as food I'd had elsewhere in Malawi. Carnivore had steak, and said it was a decent steak; accompanying salad was also ok. The 'fresh strawberries and cream' were soaked in syrup to the point where we were both transported back to tinned strawberries of the 70s... Service was erratic and we didn't like being presented at the table with a very large box for tips.
