“Comfortable and well-located hotel”
Reviewed July 24, 2014

The rooms in this hotel are average (they have all you need but nothing particularly memorable - they are well kept) but I have given it a 4* rating based on the hotel facilities (an amazing pool visible through big glass sections in the floor in the lobby area, which itself is full of Madagascar sculptures; nice restaurant; and a corner building which has a very clever atrium staircase and garden) and the location, which can't be beat (right in the centre of town - walking distance to the main market as well as a variety of boutiques and particularly decadent patisseries; and right in the government section). I'd happily stay here again.

I stayed here in early June with work colleagues for fur days. Had chance to stay in a deluxe/studio room and then in a business suite. I could hardly move about in the deluxe, I did not like the in room tea/coffee facility particular the sugar sachets in which the sugar appeared like salt. Almost empty fridge and a safe box that would not accommodate my laptop. The business suite was massive (may be a bit exaggerated as I moved here straight from the deluxe). Nice coffee maker but no milk, salt-looking sugar in sachets and no bites. Very comfortable bed, lounge though, vintage work table and good wifi. There was a source of lound noise and regular intervals throughout the nights I did not understand from where. Outside view through the window was a sad street of children sleeping on the verandahs. You get a small wood decked nice terrace for your morning coffee cup but best if you order it from the restaurant as your coffee maker will not brew. The "gym" is almost non existent. I did not go into the swimming pool and I appeared unattended to. Nice staff though all willing to help with a wide smile.

Room Tip: Some rooms overlooking the street on which there are street kids are not too nice as you cannot be t...

I have a very good souvenir of that hotel based in Antananarivo. Two of the staffs of the hotel were mauritians, including the manager of the hotel and the chef from the restaurant. Both were very friendly and sympathetic and the food, accommodation and service were excellent.

However the only thing missing in that hotel is the transport facilities especially regarding comfortable taxis.

A very clean, well situated hotel. Room was standard, bathroom was stunning - very modern. Breakfast was disappointing - I couldn't get a warm meal, had to settle for the bread and fruit buffet. On the expensive side - I think you can find hotels that are as good for much cheaper, depending on what you want. Just one tip - make sure you are on the revamped floor (first Floor). According to other guests in the hotel the other floors are not so nice...

Room Tip: First Floor - revamped floor

This place is a gem. Staff service is good but variable. Rooms are fabulous, spa beautiful but the gym is a joke - way too small! Beatiful modern design. Food very nice. Location is great. Price is very correct.

Located near some great eateries, a bank and retail shops this hotel was a delight to be in. I loved the breakfast in the morning and the staff were nice enough to give directions. The fitness too is small but can be useful if you are looking for just a simple workout. The pool is divine and located under the lobby, but the steam room was my favorite place to relax. I would stay there again should I ever return.

The Hotel du Louvre is where I stay whenever I have to go on business to Antanarivo . Besides the good location , the hotel staff , specially at reception are courteous and friendly . To be greeted by your name when you have not seen a staff person for more than a year is always ( for me ) very special ) . Breakfast service has " new " system that is rather awkward : I refer to butter and ham , etc being under a counter that can not be accessed by patrons ! Television needs at least one or 2 more English channels . Rooms are OK , not too large and service in general quite good. Food at the restaurant or room service is of very good quality ( and room service is efficient ! For me no other hotel to choose when in " Tana ".
