“Charming Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2013

We stayed at this hotel on 3 separate occasions when we were touirng Madagascar. Each time we returned, the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We were able to store our luggage at the hotel that we did not need for the tour which was very helpful as Air Madagascar is very strict with a 20 kg, 1 bag limit. We had a twin bed room for myself and my daughter. It was very clean, comfortable and quiet. The hotel did our laundry and were helpful in advising us about nearby restaurants and warning us about pickpockets. We had breakfast included with our room and the staff even prepared breakfast for us before 6:00am when we had an early morning flight to catch.

We stayed at Lapasoa at the beginning of our trip in Madagascar and some nights in between. The hotel is located in a very nice brickstone building. The rooms are simple but nicely furnished and clean. The staff is very nice and helpful and ready to answer any questions.
Also, the hotel is perfectly located for trips in the city. The neighbourhood is clean and there are some of the best restaurants in town nearby. The restaurant kudeta is located just next to the hotel where the food is amazing.
We would definitely go back the next time we are in Antananarivo.

Made very welcome in this well located and charming colonial-era wooden mansion. The streets around are quiet (by Tana standards) and there are several good restaurants within the nearest 2 blocks (we particularly liked La Boussole)
Takes credit cards. Draught beer in the adjoining KuDeTa café.
Drivers/guides who loiter outside the building can be a bit pushy but I suspect this is a problem at every vazaha hotel in Tana !

We stayed at Lapasoa in the beginning and at the end of our trip for one night (+day room). The staff was very friendly and helpful and the rooms were nice. The hotel is located in a very nice neighbourhood and there are lots of cute little shops nearby.

We found the Kudeta restaurant to be a bit pricy and pretentious. However just around the corner there was a very nice little restaurant "Chez Sucett's".

We stayed at Lapasoa on 2 separate occasions, for 1 night each. Originally, we had booked to stay 2 nights in the suite at the start of our honeymoon, but due to travel delays, we only got to stay there one afternoon and one night. When we arrived, the staff were very welcoming, and we didn't even get charged for the night that we had missed (we had informed them in advance). The suite was spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. It did get quite cold in the room at night, but the duvet was thick and warm, so there were no issues when sleeping. The staff left us a basket of toiletries in the room. I don't know if this was because we were honeymooners, because of the suite, or because we'd had a horrendous journey, but it was a lovely touch. Our second stay was in a superior room, and was equally as good. The room was warmer than the suite, as it wasn't in the roof space, but was almost as nice. The breakfast was good, however, it did incur an extra charge, as at most places in Madagascar. The lighting was good in the rooms (a rarity in Madagascar), and there was plenty of hot water. On the downside, there was a bit of mildew in the superior room's bathroom, but this was due to lack of ventilation. The adjoining restaurant KuDeTa is worth a visit.Overall it was a fantastic place, and we wish we could have spent more time there.

Room Tip: The suite was lovely, but as it was in the roof, it was a little cold in June. The superior room tha...

We used the day room of Lapasoa, while waiting for our flight back to London. We found it to our relief to be comfortable, quiet and with a great view out on Tana. That, added to the fact that you can access KuDeTa restaurant through the hotel made our very lengthy wait a chilled out one! Recommended.
