“Excellent breakfast and quiet location”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

This was the first place we stayed upon arriving via Paris into Tana in early May 2012. Chez Aina is on the edge of Tana, in a hilly section of town - the local street and driveway winds through steep, old cobblestone streets. Location is about 20-30 mins from the airport, depending on traffic, and it was very quiet for being in a city. We arrived very late (after midnight) and were greeted by Aina, who cheerfully showed us our rooms. It was a great place to come to as tired travelers. Accommodations are simple, clean and spacious, and the beds had comfortable foam mattresses (which tends to be the norm, at least in all the places we stayed in Madagascar). The next morning we had a wonderful, unique breakfast (our favorite from the entire trip) - homemade rice flour pancakes, rice cakes, sweet avocado salad, guava, pineapple, natural fruit juice, and coffee. The eating area/sitting area is in an old house with nice wood accents and local arts and crafts decorations. The garden area just outside is very inviting, complete with unique flora (many orchids), day geckos, tortoises, butterflies, etc. We would have liked to stay longer.

Room Tip: We stayed in the top floor of the building - with 2 bedrooms, private bath, and a very large common...

Back from a trip to Madagascar (november 2011) we'd like to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 days'stay at "chezaina" in Antananarivo: a typical Malagasy setting, a warm welcoming atmosphere. A smiling and helpful hostess, always ready to give you information about her country and culture. Clean bedrooms, European or local traditional excellent food.

Room Tip: rooms of the little house are more independent

I've spend one week Chez Aina and it was wonderful. You are welcomed in a very nice environment by charming people. When you enter the house, you really feel a specific atmosphere. The garden and the house are very well arranged and the rooms are lovely.
Wether you go in Tana for business, for a romance trip or with your family, you'll get a personalized service that will respect your trip objectives.

Tranquility, friendly atmosphere.. you are so warmly welcomed at Aina’s place !
My favorite was the little outdoor living rooms surrounded by plants and nice vegetation, original yet you feel at home.
The rooms are clean and spacious.
During breakfast and dinner, together with tasting local dishes (and great fruity rum too :-) ), you share a moment with Aina and other travellers from all around the world.
Thanks and I definitely be back !

First time in Tana for a one week business trip I had the pleasure to stay at Aïna. Did not really know what to expect and I must admit I was incredibly surprised. All components were there to make my stay enjoyable.

The place is just splendid. A little paradise right in Tana. Turtles are walking in the garden while you are having breakfast ! The food is just excellent, the rooms clean and spacious. And last but not least, Aïna is always there to help and make excellent recommendations and is full of tips & tricks you would not come close to by reading 10 tourist guides.

Little hint : try some of her arranged rhum collection ...

We stayed here for one night - the first night of our honeymoon - before flying out to the west side of the island. We got in late and Aina stayed up to welcome us and make us feel at home. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and pleasant. Aina organised a taxi for us early the next morning and offered an early breakfast. I unfortunately left my make up bag in the room and Aina not only got in touch with me but also asked one of her next guests from London to take it back with them. Overall, a trustworthy, helpful host with a lovely comfortable home and rooms.

This place really is a wonderful escape from Tana. Aina's garden is amazing and the rooms are all beautiful. Im not sure how but the location really drowns out the noise from the city and that alone is worth the slightly high prices. Also Aina is a lovely lady and wonderful to talk to with.
