It's a fair distance from the airport but it's a georgeous place to stay. The food is excellent and the service is wonderful (if you speak French, it's even better). It's safe and has stores across the road for the little things you may need.

I stayed there for you want believe it nearly 7 weeks, staff was friendly and service orientated. Rooms nice and clean, with good beds. The only down side is that there is no doors to the bathroom. The restaurant had great food, and made food according to my wishes (not only from the menu) . Breakfast had a god variety. The hotel is not down town Tana, - but it's only 10-15 min by taxi in the evening. In daytime a bit more due to heavy traffic in Tana. I could wish for a mosquito frame on the balcony door!

A beautifully designed, super-comfortable, clean and serene boutique hotel in a lovely location, with great attention to detail. Very spacious and beautiful rooms in modern design with traditional touches (but not at all kitsch), excellent air-con and bed, bathrooms with modern, stylish fixtures, and all rooms with great views across a picturesque pond to the town. Fantastic restaurant (best food in Madagascar for us, and that says a lot as we stayed in some 5 star luxury places who didn't match up...) which clearly is a hit with non-hotel guests as they flock in for lunch, especially. Lovely pool on a lawn to cool down after day in town (not huge, but adequate) and consistently excellent, efficient and all round delightful service (again, puts some 5 star resorts to shame!) As for mosquitos, they are EVERYWHERE on the island, so all visitors have to take precautions. We did not find there were more here than elsewhere, despite the pond. Further major plus point: mini-fridges with free bottled water and soft drinks outside each room - such a brilliant touch! (5-star resort comparison coming up again: we had to PAY for water in places where you COULDN'T get it anywhere else, so Tamboho's generosity, with a convenient supermarket just across the street, is even more commendable).

Only downside: no doors on bathrooms, and that includes the loo!! The bathrooms are sheltered from the bedroom area with a wall, but that has a round hole/window on it, which is partly covered with a cloth, while entrance to bathroom is gained from large opening on other side (facing room entrance). I.e. not only is the absolutely zero sound or air insulation from loo to bed (!), the loo (the actual toilet) is the fist thing you see upon entering the room from the outside! Very strange choice indeed, and terrible for new couples.... unless you can time use of room & bathroom carefully... A note to the management: fill-in the round 'window' and put a door in, please! (I've removed a 'dot' from room rating just for this, although rooms are otherwise really excellent)>

The hotel is located in a secure complex which helps with the baggers that you otherwise find on every street in Antanarivo. It also has a small shopping complex opposite including a Shoprite supermarket which makes small purchases possible. I stayed here for a short 3 day business trip to Madagascar. The building is very nicely decorated and new. The hotel restaurant is excellent and I enjoyed the food (even though the selection was relatively limited but sufficient). Drinks (water and sodas) are provided free of charge to hotel guest through a small fridge in each corridor.

The room was very modern and spacious. The bathroom was also ultra-modern (including no door but some separation from the main room). One drawback is that Madagascar is home to millions of mosquitos and the close proximity of the hotel to the “lake” (if you can call it that at the moment because most of the water is dried up) does not help. However the hotel does supply room mosquito repellent (vapour mats) which helps. Additionally the rooms are fully air-conditioned so there was no need to get the humid hot air into my room. And because I read previous reviews I just took a big bottle of insect repellent with me which help a lot too.

There is also free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and the rooms which was sufficient to work online and use Skype to make phone calls.

Lastly the hotel staff always had a smile on their face and was very helpful. I was looking for some vanilla tea as a gift and could not find it in the supermarket close to the hotel: The hotel staff helped me source it.

Not a bad hotel but don't be fooled; we stayed here on two separate nights and it is about 1 hour from the airport due to the traffic. It is useless as an overnight stay. The waterfront is just paddy fields which were very dry when we were there. It is set in the presidential business park which is surrounded by fences and barbed wire. Arrive after 18:00 and the steel gates of the estate are shut.
That said the bedrooms were comfy and good beds and the food was good and reasonable.
Watch out for bottled water which is supplied outside your room in a mini bar not in your room. I got charged for water when I rang down for some and they didn't make me aware that there was some outside.
Early breakfast was inedible (stale croissant/cheese/ham all left out overnight in cellophane).
Staff were friendly and efficient.

My wife and I stayed here as the departure point of our honeymoon adventure in Madagascar. Although a nice new building with beautiful decor and restaurant its location is simply dia. Waterfront? More like mosquito nursery!!

The room although modern and clean would have benefited from mesh on the windows/mosquito net around the bed (our room in the rainforest was less infested). Another problem was the lack of a door on the bathroom/toilet. I mean I can understand having the bath in a room but no door on the toilet?!!! Put it this way the open plan look just doesn't cut it.

Also disappointed that they didn't have a PC available to use for us to reconfirm the next stage of our journey and, sent us 15mins walk up the road to the nearest internet cafe!

Mind you by some consolation, the impeccably dressed staff are very helpful and the food is good value for money. However, somehow I can't se us staying there again unless the complaining elements were remedied.

I spent one night at Tamboho and left wishing I had an entire week to spend here. From the roomy, chic rooms to the friendly staff to the gorgeous pool and grounds, I had no complaints. The bed is HUGE and I got the best night sleep I had in Madagascar here.
The only thing that I should make mention of is that the bathroom (at least ours) had no door on it by design, and there's also a large, open window, so it might be a bit too open for some who are more modest.
It is not located in the center and I don't recommend walking there, which is very uncharacteristic of me. The sidewalks aren't good at all and although we didn't get harassed, it was a constant struggle to walk on the narrow pavement, with people walking towards you, and not go off into the road where cars are driving at full speed. We didn't have any problems with taxi drivers being dodgy and always negotiated a price first. Granted, sometimes it took 5-6 taxis to concede to our asking price, but in the end we got there. The staff at Tamboho are EXCELLENT and will help you get a taxi if you want. If you tell them you just want a regular taxi, they'll do that, too. Otherwise, they will get you a nice minivan type of vehicle for about 5 times the price, which is also not bad if you are going to the airport or just want more comfort.
I would absolutely stay here again and really hope I get the opportunity to do so.
