Maison du Pyla is a lovely and quiet place just in the city center! The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Everything was perfect. The owner is a really nice person and the food was the best food of Madagascar!

If you are lucky and you´ll have the opportunity to go to Antananarivo don´t hesitate and choose Maison do Pyla!

Our group of 18 students and 5 instructors stayed at La Maison du Pyla for a week. Mme Fanja was a warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and welcoming hostess who speaks good English as well as French and, of course, Malagasy. The staff were attentive, pleasant, and efficient. Rooms are clean, comfortable and charmingly decorated. Baths (some en suite, others shared) are clean, functional, attractive. The third-floor terrace has a beautiful view of the city. Internet is in the process of being upgraded. The kitchen prepared fantastic meals for our group. The only downside is noise from barking neighborhood dogs during the night.

I highly recommend La Maison du Pyla to anyone who is looking for a home-away-from-home experience.

We stayed for about 10 days in this small hotel--converted from an old residential house-- near the University of Madagascar in Antananarivo. Our room was clean, simple, comfortable, and extremely reasonable in price. Madame Fanja, the owner, treated us like family. The staff were excellent. We were treated to excellent meals in the main room or on the terrace with a superb view of the nearby parts of the city. Taxis could be gotten into the city center on the road next to the hotel, for a nominal price; we also walked one day from the city center back to the hotel--distances are not large.

We absolutely loved la Maison du Pyla. We booked a room there for three weeks and did not want to leave. Each room has its own style and is beautifully decorated. The breakfast was gorgeous with fresh fruits and fresh juice every morning, served if you so wish on the terrace overlooking Tana. Most importantly, the staff was incredibly helpful in our discovery of Tana.

I stayed there for about three weeks and felt very comfortable. The rooms are lovely painted and mostly wooden like the whole building. From the terasse you have a nice view over the city on hills. This hotel is runned by a very friendly local family with perfect english skills which is very helpfull for non french speaking people like me. The atmosphere is warm and hostile, much more familiy like rather than a anonymous hotel. Very recomendable!!!
