Owner description: The amazing landscapes of limestone pinnacles, gorges and pristine forests protect many rare birds, lemurs and reptiles.

We hired 4x4 car from Morondava. It takes about 8 hours to get to Bekopaka. Two river crossings. Stayed in Tanankoay bungalows. In the morning we took the longest and hardest of tracks with our guide Augustine who spoke very good English and had good knowledge of flora and fauna. It was very hot, something like 29 C. We carried 2,5 liters of water per person but needed 1 liter more. Walk is exhausting. You go up the ladders, down on small steps fixed to rocks, over hanging bridges, into the caves and to the top of Tsingy. Being quite fit, still got tired because of temperature and extreme climbing. There are safety ropes and cables. Still have to be very careful in caves not to fall into deep gaps. Headlights are mandatory.
This was one of my best nature walks of my life. There is lot of wildlife also - some lemur species, birds, mammals, reptiles.
Highly recommended!

We rented a car with the driver from Morondava to get there. According to the guides you can get there till more or less 1st of December, when the wet season starts and roads become inpassible. We went there at the end of November and it did not rain at all during out visit. In Morondava there are guides who offer to organise the tour, but it is enough to rent the car wiith the driver as you have to take the local guides at the park anyway. It take around 10 hours from Morondava by 4x4 to get there. It is possible to get there by taxi - brousse as well but after we saw the conditions of the road and the taxi brousses it is not sometyhing I would like to do. The parl itself is amazing. There are the pinnacles are very impressive. There were also quite a lot of wildlife as well. We managed to see lemurs and quite a few birds. I think the Grand Tsingy is more impressive than the Small Tsingy, so if you are pressed for time a day visit in the Grand Tsingy may be enough.

Again another site in Madagascar that will stay with me for ever! Not easy to get to but we both flew over it and trekked in certain (allowed) parts. Relatively unknown and far from it all means you're pretty much on your own by the time you get there; at least we were; and wow the atmosphere makes you wonder about things. Magical, inspirational and more as words fail me...

Does anyone know if it is possible to get here in December? Lonely planet says April to October is the best time to go/the roads are most accessible. But is it still possible after October? Limited info on the net...thanks heaps!

Amazing landscape! 10 hours to travel 285km! Bad roads! Slow moving on 4x4 roads. Away from it all! Fantastic reptile and bird life. Good food & Accomodation.
