Not much there to write about. There are streets around the square offering various shopping opportunities. The old fort is right next to the square with the labyrinth of small alleys with shops selling cheap clothes and whatnots.

feels different thinking of what has happened in this square called Martyrs square after Qaddafi's departure. Loads of new Libya flags, life back to normal for the Libyans under a free sky now

Green square, also called Martyr's Square now, is a great place to visit! There is excitement in the air with music playing, all kinds of "freedom" paraphernalia being sold, and lots of busting activity. There is a park close by that is filled with lots of people and children playing. Cotton candy, popcorn, or a warm cup of tea can easily be found. I would recommend coming to see the the "new" free Libya!

Green square or in Arabic Assaha al Khadra as the loacl taxi drivers know it , is always a busy place to visit , except on friday mornings , (holy day), when you virtually have the square to yourself before 10am.
This is an ideal time for photo oppertunities, do not take pictures of police or their stations , they get a bit upset, but apart from that , it is an excellent place to start or finish your visit to tripoli.
Normally this is very busy and you have to be very aware of the traffic at all times.

It is well known place in Tripoli (Tarabulus), and city's inhabitants meeting point. The square is one of the most important celebration place in Libya. Muammar Kaddafi address his speaches to the nation from here on the most important days like 1st September Revolution anniversary. The site is in perfect condition. The square is surrounded with some other Tripoli main attractions like Tripoli Castle, Tripoli Medina or sea side. Palm trees arround square and a fountain add an egzotic taste to a pleasurable city center. Green square has one minus as it is a noisy place. Traffic circles the square and it is full of speeding cars day and night.
p.s. Especially in the night time, the square full of people might be attractive
