My partner and I stayed here for a couple of nights in 2010 (with others in our group also) and again as a couple in Feb 2012. We stayed here before heading off to do voluntary work on both occasions and first found it via a lonely planet book recommendation. Its great if you are just looking for a room with somewhere to sleep and rest up, at a fraction of the price of the bigger hotels. The rooms are clean, secure and ours had an ensuite bathroom with hot shower (that actually worked compared to the one that didn't at all at the Paloma). There is also a good air-con system and fridge in the rooms also. You are still close enough to walk to the larger hotels and sportsbar to get food late in the eve, meet up with friends etc. The price is comparable to hostels in the area where you would be sharing dorm-style rooms, as opposed to private double and twin rooms the New Haven offers.
The only down-side is that we had difficulty booking anything more than a few days in advance.
