This is really a great hotel. Great staff. Great food. Wonderful rooms. Amazing pool and grounds. Unfortunately, it's incredibly expensive- upwards of $400/night. I'm not exactly sure why it's so expensive compared to other Movenpick properties around the world. I can travel here on business but would never consider it for leisure.

I stayed here on a business trip to Accra and found it to be very modern and acceptable. Everything worked well in the hotel, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom very clean. I had excellent WiFi connection throughout my stay. The décor and fittings were nice and new, and it rather felt like a Movenpick any where in the world. A most acceptable standard, but a bit bland. The staff were always helpful, which is not always the case in hotels in this part of the world. I had no chance to use it, but there is a great-looking swimming pool in the grounds of the hotel. Nothing exotic in the way of gardens, though and the setting is somewhat characterless - maybe it will improve with time. Overall, this hotel ranks as one of the best in Accra for a business trip and I shall certainly return.

Room Tip: As high a floor as possible, because the view is good

A great hotel with lovely rooms, good food and great staff. A little anonymous and not a lot of West African appeal but a great place to locate yourself to visit the area. The conferences become annoying especially when you are having a lounge b the pool and the suits all come out on a break and are noisy and nosy.

I took my parents out for dinner on Mother's Day and went to the movempick. I was surprised to find out the buffet is 79 cedis a person and the selection was amazing. Sushi, soups, deserts etc... I really enjoyed the experience and recommend it to anyone looking for good food.

In the last 5 years, my company has increased our presence in West Africa with annual visits and seminars. The last seminar was held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel.

The venue is great, very welcoming, with unobtrusive staff. The conference centre were two well appointed rooms with sufficient sound insulation that we were not disturbed by the neighboring event, despite both of use using microphones. The only downside was the data projector which could be refurbished.

The hotel itself is great, with an excellent restaurant and a huge swimming pool. The rooms are sufficiently spacious and well kept.

Altogether a haven in what is otherwise a tumultuous trip.

Dear Alexander W

Thank you for the time taken to complete this review and to you, as well to your company for hosting your last seminar with us. I will pass on your compliments to the team and we definite will have a look at the projector to ensure a “complete haven” during your next event. We are looking forward to this.

You could be anywhere - Europe, the USA, the Far Wast: it's a high-standard European hotel with no notable African characteristics. Well, that's fine if you want (as I do!) some cleanliness, comfort, decent food and facilities on two-day business trip to the city.

It all works so well, from the welcoming drink on checkin (although I didn't get mine :() to the friendly staff throughout, whether at poolside or in the restaurant and bar.

My room (facing the pool/south) on the fifth floor was fine with a comfy double bed and spotless. Wifi worked well (but not by the pool or poolside bar sadly).

You could try the Novotel if your budget does not stretch to the Movenpick. Colleagues staying there said it too was fine and came over to the Movenpick for drinks, bar food etc.

We had a wonderful three nights in a Club room, 601, in mid March. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The bedroom had TV, writing desk, arm chairs and night tables. The dressing area had cupboards, hanging space, mini bar, safe and iron/ironing board. The bathroom had a bath with shower and good amenities and hair dryer. The hotel is a quiet oasis in central Accra.

All the staff we encountered were welcoming and professional in every way. The club level staff addressed us by name which was appreciated.

The pool is huge and there are plenty of day beds - a pleasant way to relax for a while.

I rate the dining experience as just average. I found the restaurant far too cold and my discomfort was compounded as it always took a very long time for ordered meals (not the buffet, of course) to be served. The actual food in the restaurant was quite good, but the temperature, even with a sweater, was not comfortable.

Breakfast in the Club Lounge was peaceful. It was unusual that some of the fruits served - including mango and papaya - were crunchy and the muesli left a fermented chocolaty aftertaste that I did not care for. Having enjoyed muesli in other Movenpick hotels, this was a disappointment. The evening drinks were very nice with a generous range of items to accompany the drinks.

There is a decent two floor shopping emporium with some better quality items and we ended up making our only Accra purchases here.

We had the hotel provide us with a car and driver for a full day tour of Accra and later, a full day tour to Cape Coast. On the second tour, we were fortunate to have Kojo as our driver. As well as being an outstanding driver, his commentary was excellent - both interesting and informative. We also had him for our final transfer to the ship, and again we had a mini tour and excellent commentary: plus he took us along the coast as the main bridge had a structural issue the day before and we arrive well before others who had left more than half an hour before us!

Highly recommend as the best place to relax in Accra.

Room Tip: The Club rooms are worth the additional cost
