“SUCH A JEWEL”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2013

We had such a lovely dinner at this place. The waiter was extremely polite and friendly and gave us very good recommendations. The food took a long time to arrive (it is being prepared from scratch) but once it arrived, we had a heavenly feast. Plus, the location is very serene and peaceful as the place is just off the busy street. Would definitely recommend this place and come back there again.

“Amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2013

We spent 21 days in Accra and frequented Buka for 75% of our dinners-- they close at 6pm on Sundays or it would have been more. The atmosphere was gorgeous: a second story breezy deck. The staff was very thoughtful and made every attempt to answer sometimes very complicated questions about the menu and give their honest opinion about what's good. Always smiling as well. On a couple visits, the food took a while, but it's only because the restaurant can get packed quickly. When the food comes, as delicious as it is, you forget that you may have waited a bit.
We heard about it by word of mouth, and suggested it to the Ghanaians with whom we were visiting, and it quickly became their nightly spot as well. The kelewele and fried fish stew, with mango drink when they had it, were my go-to dinners, but pretty much everything I tasted was delicious. We tried almost everything on the menu by our 15th visit. The portions for the prices were also great given we were in a touristy area. Overall, one of my favorite restaurants (in both Ghana and the USA), and I have my fingers crossed that a place like this shows up in Florida sometime in the future!

“Disappointing”

The food was disappointing. There was nothing on the menu that made this place stand out from standard fare on the street.

“Busy Ghanaian and Nigerian restaurant”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013

I found the food here reasonably OK, but not outstanding, though portions were very generous when they eventually arrived. Service is pleasant but not speedy. Do order early, and note that some items on the menu may get "finished" earlier in the day. External signage, especially at night, is not great, though if you know your way around you will be all right. Popular with a mixture of Ghanaians, West Africans and expatriates.

“Go At Your Own Risk”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013

I went to the restaurant last night with a large group for a friends birthday and from start to finish the customer service was lacking. Upon arrival, we ordered a bottle of house white wine for 25 cedi. The waitress brought over two bottles and asked which we'd like. We asked if both were house whites for 25 cedi and she confirmed that was the case. Later in the evening we ordered a second bottle because the price was right, but when the bill came, they tried to stick us with a charge of 75 cedi for each bottle. We brought this to their attention and rather than admitting a mistake in the bill or apologizing, the waitress claimed we never ordered house wine and that we chose a 75 cedi bottle. The waitress along with the others working that night treated us with complete disrespect as customers and argued with us for about an hour. You can get great African food elsewhere in Accra without being scammed. I suggest you choose another location for dinner!
