Nice walks in the forests with plenty of wildlife. We had a guide to take us around which was great. Very informative. I have visited here twice and enjoyed both visits.

We had a mixed visit, in that there were no animals around (apart from one or two monkeys and some beautiful birds). However, we got lucky with our guide (sorry I can't remember his name) who was really informative and very knowledgable. He was able to talk passionately for the whole walk, which took a couple of hours.

The animal orphanage is interesting, and you're guaranteed to see baboons, hyenas and lots and lots of vultures there - even if they are behind wire fences.

Try to go if you're in the area - if only to support the business and the cause. Apparently early morning is the best time to see the animals.

We had a knowledgable and attentive guide for the day who found and identified scores of birds for us. The Brewer viewing hide was fantastic and the whole experience perfect.

We went on a day excursion from a cruise ship in Banjul.
The demo of palm tree climbing, juice tapping and the walk through the forest was interesting, but only worth doing on the basis of "we aren't likely to be coming to this part of The Gambia again". The constant demand for tips can be very wearing, though.

I made one of my Gambian friends take me here last year. There was little to see in return for a long walk in the heat. The guide insisted that we needed him, but gave hardly any information and neither the entry fee nor the guide's fee were cheap.
