I bought some great artwork and the vendors were a lot more layed back than those in other areas. I found lots of examples of unique pieces of canvasses and the locals were happy to make alterartions to some of the leather goods I purchased. I would say its a nice place to pass through rather than spend a extended period.

Banjul Market is mainly a craft market with loads of wooden items, paintings, fabrics and similar products. I would recommend going with a guide or a local taxi driver because they can help you barter for items and lead you to the right section if you are looking for a particular item. Banjul market is better than Serekunda if you are looking for gifts however if you want fabric I would recommend going to Serekunda instead because you tend to get better deals on fabrics in Serekunda.

It was quite dark inside like a rabbit warren, but the stall holders were very helpful. If they didnt have what you wanted, they knew someone who did! Worth a visit just for the experience.
