Maybe it was the shock value of prices overall in Gabon, but I somehow expected more for 45,000 CFA (around 90 USD), like breakfast, or a balcony. The layout is something like a soviet-era office building, with about as much charm. If you stay, don't let the darkened corridors spook you too much: it's actually an energy saving feature, with timed light switches every 2 meters.

Good points: very clean, sheets clean and mattress firm.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the same side as reception: My room was across to what seemed like an excellent party in the next property (that only wrapped up at 5:30 am), and a post-party argument between drunks that went on a few hours more.

Last summer, I went to visit Gabon and stayed at Hibiscus Hotel. First, the hotel is much affordable compared to any others and the service provided. The rooms are equipped with Wi-Fi, nice TV, ac, and a refrigerator. The location is very good, close to downtown for business, and Louis which night life area for night clubs and nice restaurants. The service provided is fine. Also what is remarkable is that the hotel updated to their own electrical power and drilling for water in case of the power goes off and there is no water, which is important because it is recurrent in the city. Also the power back up supports all the electrical necessities including ac which is not available in most other hotels. Anyway, I would recommend staying at hibiscus if you visit Gabon.

Clean, perfectly adequate rooms, AC, fridge and TV. Good venue if organising a conference or meeting in Libreville - nice terrace where lunch/drinks are served during meetings.
Staff friendly. Reasonably good location for exploring Libreville. Can walk from here to restaurants etc, and short taxi ride to beachside. Wifi available.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms better than ground floor, as then you can open windows at night if you want, and are bit quieter.

I stayed there for 6 nights and must say Hibiscus is ok. Rooms are clean, have air conditioning, fridge and flat screen tv and service is ok. The night in a standard room was 42'000 francs (only payable in cash - € or CFA) which is expensive for international standards, but reasonable for Libreville. Breakfast is not included. There is a restaurant on hotel grounds that is overpriced (simple breakfast 5000 francs). As an alternative there is a nice omelette (around 1000) at Corniche next door. Booking is only guaranteed with prepayment. I booked 2 months in ahead and there was no trace of my booking (and no room available) when I arrived. I eventually (after quite a scene) got a room. In general to get service I needed to repeat my query and insist (change of light bulb needed 3 reminders...). Wifi is supposedly available in the rooms, but didn't work for me. I was sometimes lucky in the reception (other people seemed to have similar issues). If you come here for business and don't want to pay the exorbitant prices of the bigger hotels, Hibiscus is a good option.

Hibiscus is a good option for staying in Libreville. It is on the 'Boulevard Triomphal' that also hosts most of the government ministries, a good location. The hotel is relatively new and in a good state, there is no elevator which is a pain if you are staying on the higher floors. The rooms are quite sizeable and reasonably well appointed (tv, often a fridge) and there is Wifi. The value for money is certainly reasonable for Libreville.
Two drawbacks I have noticed, the last visit water was cut (happens elsewhere as well) and the hotel either did not have their own reserve or refused to turn it on (bad either way). Service here is not great, staff doesn't really care about client satisfaction. The only final note is that the area around the hotel is a not very active, there are few if any restaurants and shops in a 500m radius. In Libreville this is an attactive option nonetheless and my favorite with Hotel Eclipse in Louis
