When coming to Addis, my wife and I had many options to choose from. We opted for a locally owned hotel that was close to everything. What we got was something more. A place that treated us like family. Where service is a top priority and a smiling face is always present. Batiru and his team went out of our way to make sure that we had everything we needed. When my wife’s cake was lost, they personally arranged a car to take me back to the shop to buy another. The level of service was second to none, and I would put them in the category of the Ritz, Waldorf, Kempinski etc.... but not at Ritz prices.

This hotel should be considered pound for pound one of the best hotels around; it will be our spot for years to come.

It is worth noting that our room, which is just above a standard room would qualify as a suite and give you more than enough room to spread out and still sit on the couch and relax.

Stayed here after a week long of traveling Ethiopia and it was bliss checking in to these comfortable rooms. Location was ace. Close to ‘perfect’ beds with different selection of pillow types and a nice good warm showers (yes, I have been to the most rural parts of the country).. and I believe that hotel is trying to go green, because they reuse soaps/shampoos/body locations in their bathroom instead of throwing them out.

The only thing that is stopping me from giving 5 stars is because of the the breakfast buffet and the service of some of the staff.

Walking into the buffet room and the bar, I found myself smiling and greeting the staff instead of the other way round (except the chef at the egg station. She was the best in the whole hotel I feel!) Maybe it’s because I’m Asian 😰

The breakfast spread is vast, but the quality is poor. The fruits were sour, the texture of the breads and waffles are off, and the traditional breakfast.. well let’s just say I’ve had better. Much better. No one will come around offering you coffee, but it’s self service is some remote spots in the buffet hall.

All these might be trivial, but keep in mind rooms and breakfast halls are the only thing that most guest would experience during their short rest and recuperation in your establishment before moving on to their next destination. Fix this.. and you’ll be the top local brand in town.
