Arequ Guesthouse is a wonderful place to stay in Addis. The house is thoughtfully designed by the owner's architect son. The house has beautiful hardwood floors, a great common sitting area with nice leather couches, a little outdoor patio and communal dinning area which is nice for meeting other guests.

The rooms are huge and have great sitting areas with reading lamps and a tea kettle and little stove in ours (room 3) if you would like to prepare something small. I had laundry done twice, once after camping and they did an excellent job.

The family is truly hospitable, offering afternoon tea and snacks and calling a taxi whenever you need one. A great place to stay in Addis if you are looking for a tasteful alternative to big hotels.

Friends and I stayed here at the beginning of our trip to the south of the country, and again after a week on the road. It was a very comfortable place to stay both times, but after a hard week of road travel and camping we especially enjoyed the hot water, comfortable beds and wifi. The friendly host was a plus, and the cozy living room area a welcome retreat for tea, chatting and TV watching. Location near the airport was an advantage for us.

Room Tip: Stairs may be a hindrance for some travelers, as there's no elevator. Noise from nearby highway decreases at night, but ear plugs were helpful.

This little guest house is a perfect place to go home to after a day in Addis. It feels like a safe retreat where everyone is so kind and helpful. It has wifi, so it's an excellent spot to stay in. It also has full kitchen facilities, both communal and in your own room. In addition to the very comfortable beds in the rooms, the bathroom is splendid, with hot water and plenty of light.
I highly recommend this as a place to stay in Addis, and it's proximity to the airport is very convenient, as well as to Bole District where there are shops, a hospital, cinema, and a gorgeous orthodox Church to visit, not to mention the coffee shops.
They offer a home made breakfast every morning, and will make you wheat-free Teff pancakes is you warn them in advance of your gluten intolerance. A pleasant place to stay in the city.

We stayed in the suite on the top floor. Don't chose that if you don't want to climb stairs! Ten flights up. All rooms are a climb. No elevator. But, the rooms were very nice and homey. "Mother" was a wonderful host, sitting down and chatting with us. Breakfast was basic but very good. The best part is the family who run this B & B. They treat you like family. This is great in a strange place where you need to ask questions.
