“Great Views from the Top”
Reviewed May 11, 2014

The Museum was small but interesting. The buildings behind it were fascinating when one considers the emperor 100 years ago lived in a modest castle made of strwa roof and mud brick sides. A tour guide is essential to understand the history and know where to go.

The view from the top is amazing but it was not a clear day and I was told Addis as it grows is becoming less clear. However the change in temperature was clearly felt as we climbed to 3200m.

“Great View”
Reviewed May 9, 2014

A steep drive with some great views of the city of Addis. Locals tell me that Entoto was the first town before Addis could develop and be built. really worth the drive and if you have a chance do some shopping for traditional Ethiopian wear at the bottom of Entoto hill.

“TUGS YOUR HEART”
Reviewed May 5, 2014

The trip up the hill was beautiful.Winding roads, great scenery, ever green trees and our talkative guide.

We started off with the museum where we were charged 40 birrs. All cameras and phones are stored in safes outside the museum as they do not allow tourists to take photos. The museum is small but has great history on Haile.

Our second stop was the church......Heart wrenching scenes. Elderly people who have come hoping for a miracle are scattered on these grounds. Some lay prostrate on the floor, others seated on the floor while other lean heavily on wooden stilts. beautiful and colourful as it is, taking photos becomes hard because of the sick people around it.

We then went to visit the mausoleums around the compound and the house where one of the kings lived in.

Be prepared to see homeless children around this area asking for food or money.

The drive down the hill was really good as our guide knew the best spots to stop and take photos.

At the bottom of the hill, there is a market and this proved to be the cheapest one in Addis. Whatever price is quoted divide it by three and rest assured you will own the item.

“Perfect getaway from the city”
Reviewed April 30, 2014

A nice place to get away from the hectic Addis city life. Great views. Groups of children might come up to any visitor that doesn't look African, to ask for candy or Birr.

“Go early in the mornimg while the view is clear!”
Reviewed April 30, 2014

A good starting point for views of the city especially if you have just flown in. You will be passed by more donkeys and elderly women bent double under firewood than vehicles. The view is not as good as 45 years ago because the cuty has quadrupled in size since then but I was introducung a friendto Ethiopia. Like everywhere on the tourist route you will be hassled yo buy thoings but its usually gentle and manageable. Continue up to the church and Royal Palace. A good guide in the museum will give a broad introduction to the history of the country.
